Well thought out site

This is a very well thought out site, 360 views are spectacular. Staff are friendly and helpful. Motorhome owner’s without a vehicle in tow will find it difficult to see the local sites and even with a bicycle it’s a long ride along the very busy A5 to Corwen etc. The toilets are clean, however are in desperate need of an update

Discovered this Site

This is a lovely site can’t believe we haven’t stayed here before. Yes the toilet block is a bit old but it’s clean and the site has a well cared for look about it. The views over the back of the site are spectacular a place to sit and appreciate it. Lovely walks from the site.

Peaceful and friendly

Lovely well kept site with very friendly owners who could not help enough. Plenty of places to visit just a short drive away and even the coast is not to far for a day trip. We will be back.

Outstanding natural beauty

I ditto previous reviews, yes the toilet block is old and not what we're used to in CAMC, but very clean and serviceable. Very friendly welcoming wardens. The views are beautiful, of hilly country side, this is the edge of the Snowdonia National park so not the dramatic views of mountains, and the best views are at the end of the site which is elevated, and during our stay was occupied by seasonals. Wardens are very particular about their grass, which is understandable, so only breathable ground sheets allowed. We had a 10 night stay and went out and about every day. We visited the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall (the highest in Wales), rode the train to the top of Snowdon, (book in advance, we got there at 12 and couldn't get on until 4, even though there are several trains running every half hour!). Went to the nearest two NT trust sites, Chirk castle.....well worth a visit, Erddig... a bit dark inside, but good walks in the grounds. Several castles, which have fascinating history. Lake Vynwy.....very dramatic reservoir. So lots to do in the area. A previous review was helpful telling us to look out for the Bison on stilts at the entrance, I thought it would be a cute little sign, but no, it is actually a full size Bison...on stilts.

First stop of Wales roadtri[

We first stayed on this site over twenty years ago when we had a caravan and we loved it then. Now we have had a change and have a campervan (Trigano Tribute) This year for our two weeks hols we have done a memory lane trip with a few new places! This was our first stop and the welcome from John and Nerys was amazing! Would have liked to have stayed longer and hopefully will be back next year! Its a lovely little site with some amazing views the faclities are spotless. Well recommended!

Nice few days

Despite the weather (wet and windy) had a good stay mid September. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Peaceful open location but very handy for A5. Yes toilet block not the most modern but clean and perfectly adequate. Bit of a downside was the onsite 'shop', only toilet chemicals and ice creams, no milk or bread etc, but it is a very small site so maybe that's understandable. In some ways a bit like a large CL. Good location for exploring the area. Snowdonia and Chester easily reachable and nearer to hand Llangollen and the canal / aqueducts, and some National Trust places. Excellent food at the Grouse in Carrog. Would happily return.

Disappointing

This site disappointed us. Sure it's in a wonderful location, but for the price paid we felt the facilities were poor compared with the standard we are used to on owned Club Sites. The toilet block, although clean, badly needs refurbishment or preferably replacing altogether, the water and disposal facilities are a bit primitive, and we are not sure that the distance between some pitches is adequate for fire protection. On the other hand, the wardens are perfectly friendly (they don't seem to be on site overnight) and the the place has the fastest and cheapest wifi we have ever experienced on a Club Site or anywhere else!

Our favourite.

Just returned from our third stay this year, this site never fails to please us. Johnny and Nerys seem more like friends than site wardens and owner. They keep everything just right without being fussy or regimental, because they own the site they really look after it. Lovely views all round and good walks from site. Village shop has been improved and is very handy, its a nice walk up the lanes to the village too. Hope to return before the season ends.

Lovely views

Very helpful warden. Small site so generally peaceful but there is a function suite just down the road so some loud music. Good walks but the footpaths aren't maintained so you have to fight through nettles at times. Directions to the site useless. Don't turn into the farm shop complex; turn when you see a bison on stilts. Road access very narrow for 100 yards and no passing places. Despite all that a very relaxing site to stay at. Good for a rest.

Two and a half wonderful weeks

We turned up at this site, having booked in for a week starting the 7th of July having never been to this area before. We liked it so much we didn't leave until 24th!!! Nerys and Johnnie are wonderful hosts, I wish all wardens were like them and the site is so well looked after it puts my garden to shame. Topped off by the wonderful. peaceful location, watching Red Kites floating around almost daily, what more could you ask for. We will most definitely be going back.
