Easter Break

Booked online due to previous reviews, we arrived Good Friday and the site was bursting and on first impression looked very crammed, we weren't wrong, by Tuesday it was practically empty which actually showed the beautiful views from the site. Excellent dog field which is secure for your dogs to runaround off the lead. Now baring in mind the site was practically empty the warden placed two motorhomes directly opposite us and once again we felt rammed in with no views. Our last night there was a wedding at the venue nextdoor and music ( I say music it was a boom boom boom ) constantly disturbed the evening until gone midnight. Facilities are basic but do what they say on the tin, reason for the low score is a used condom on the wall above the shower that had been there all week and was still there when we left this morning. This site could be a little gem if it was thinned out by 10-15 units. We didn't let it spoil our holiday but sadly we won't be returning.

Lovely wee site.

Lovely wee site, well kept with a great toilet block, very friendly and helpfull warden. However, families beware, there’s absolutely nothing for kids here, and no spare space to play. Pitches are also rather small, should really be non awning as once a family caravan with awning is set up there’s no room for a car. TBH this site would make a better adults only site for Motorhomes/Campers or smaller caravans with just porch awnings.

Very pleasant site

We were at Gaerhyfryd in early September. It is a very pleasant, quiet site with excellent , clean facilities. The warden is superb - nothing is too much trouble for him. Well situated for touring the area and do visit the local farm shop, Rhug - their cakes are just SO good!

Lovely peaceful site

Just returned home after a short stay at this delightful site. Tucked away in a peaceful location, surrounded by green fields, this was a great base for exploring the area. Very well kept pitches. Helpful staff. Will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Very please

Very pleasant 5 night stay at this site, the toilet block was kept immaculately clean by the warden (Billy) during our stay, nothing was too much trouble for him, he made us feel welcome and even collected us from the local pub the Blue Lion in Cynwig when we went over to meet our friends for a meal and a drink, we ate the Sunday lunch there and it was very nice, we were made to feel very welcome by the locals. We also ate at the Burwyn Restaurant in Landrillo, a small family run place with only 6 tables so it’s wise to book, it’s the no 1 restaurant in Corwen on trip advisor and we’ll worth a visit. Apart from the Saturday night where there was a wedding reception on at a venue close to the campsite we found it extremely relaxing and quiet. ( even on the Saturday it didn’t keep us awake) We would definitely return to this site if we are in the area, there are some beautiful walks and views to die for when you walk to the top of Castell Dinas! All in all it was a very pleasant end to our month long journey around Wales.

Pros and Cons

A quiet site that even our grandchildren remarked on, in a positive way I might add! On arrival the warden explained where everything was including the information that waste was sorted at a recycling centre and not on site. I wish more sites would explain what can be recycled! I didn't have a problem with being allocated a pitch although given the number of empty pitches I also thought this a bit strange. I did manage to bend a few pegs when putting the awning up and perhaps advice on this could be included in the site description. At Tredegar Park, however, I did manage to bend almost everyone! Is this a Welsh problem? The toilets were clean and, although the building was some years old, the interior and the shower fittings were clean and modern. What a pleasure to be able to put your clothes/towel somewhere dry whilst showering! Wifi was good and we managed to watch the Hungarian GP on SkyGo without a problem. Although this may change if the site was full. The lack of an information room has been pointed out elsewhere and I agree this would have been useful. There was no play area which our grandchildren did not find a problem, only learning of a field for ball play when we were leaving! A small point but one that frustrates me is the short length of hosepipe at many CEP's, not here! A nice long pipe that doesn't kink when you use it was a bonus! The warden was friendly and helpful, especially when we were leaving, not that he wanted rid of us I am sure! Would we visit again, yes, without a doubt.

Very good small site

We had a most enjoyable week here in June. Our pitch was fine. Electricity, TV connection and drainage in the corner of the pitch. I was rather dubious about the surface which I think must be crushed slate, but it was no problem. My wife was very happy with the dog walk. There were vacant pitches during our stay. There are plenty of places to visit from here. We are intending to return.
