Ferry Meadows

This story happened on: 19/03/2024

Tempted, or should we say persuaded by the free night voucher offer the Club made we booked Ferry Meadows for the third week in March. When we arrived on the Tuesday the warden mentioned they were full that night so the free night promotion must have been pretty successful, maybe they will do it again?

The weather during our stay was not particularly bad or good, just middling, at least it wasn't cold. This site is ideal for a short stay as there is enough to do in the immediate vicinity of the site without needing to take a vehicle off site. One day we explored Nene Park which is only a short stroll from the site entrance. Gone are the days when we could wonder all around the lakes and pathways but we did manage enough to blow the cobwebs off. Also a good excuse to have a coffee at the Park Cafe, and very good it was too.

The next day we went in the other direction. First stopping at Overton Station on the Nene Valley Heritage Railway. Unfortunately no services running as there is only a restricted timetable at this time of years. Had trains been running we could have gone into Peterborough or in the other direction to Wansford. From here we carried on down to the Notcutts Garden Centre. Another cafe and another coffee although not as good as the one in the Park!

Those three nights seemed to go pretty quickly. It was the first trip away in the motorhome since last October but you quickly fall back into the routine. Now where should we go next with that 10% discount offer in mind?
