Standard Caravans

The allowed width of a caravan has increased in recent years to 2.55m, although the body length stays the same at a maximum of 7m. Overall length of a car and caravan combination  must not exceed 18m, but that's probably not much of a concern!

Teardrop Caravans

More and more, we are seeing Teardrop Caravans, which are accepted on our campsites. These sweet, intimate caravans have relatively basic facilities, especially in terms of cooking, relying on free-standing camping stoves instead.

Fifth Wheel Caravans

Whilst better known in North America, the Fifth-Wheel Caravan is becoming more popular in the UK due to its excellent on-road stability. With the overlapping from the caravan to the car in front, it does make the whole outfit quite long and a bit taller.

We would therefore recommend considering the pitch size and access when you book in as you may need a pitch that is more suitable to the larger motorhomes.

Standard Motorhomes

There are quite a lot of different types of Motorhomes out there and for the most part are considered ‘M1’ category vehicles, as they are a passenger car which also provides sleeping accommodation, seating and table area, cooking facilities and some storage - all rigidly fixed to the living compartment.

Self-build Conversions

Self-build conversions are becoming increasingly popular with models like VW Caddy Maxi Campers, Mazda Bongos and Spaceships.

When building your own conversion, the best definition to keep in mind is whether the “clear intended design and purpose of the vehicle is to provide leisure accommodation use in the course of a recreational touring holiday” - if so, you can bring it to a Club campsite!

Artistic decoration

The majority of caravans and motorhomes are painted in very limited colours, mainly white, cream or silver. A few owners like to decorate their outfits in a variety of artistic styles including being brightly painted and whilst this might seem a little unconventional to some, as long as there aren’t any offensive or discriminatory imagery or wording, these ‘vans are totally acceptable on our Club campsites.

Trailer tents and Folding Campers

Trailer tents and folding campers are considered the equivalent to a caravan, rather than a tent so they are therefore accepted on Club campsites that wouldn’t normally permit conventional tents.

Trailer tents come in a variety of sizes, from the modest-sized trailer to a larger assemble, which has an additional living and sleeping quarters!

Roof top tents 

Roof top tents are accepted across all of our Club campsites, and can even be used as an extra sleeping space to your caravan or motorhome, as long as they don’t have any gas-powered devices. Car tents, which are the ground-level tents that link to your car, are also accepted.

Boats on Trailers

Boats aren’t designed to be used for accommodation on land and so unfortunately we don’t accept them on our campsites.  The only exception to this is Wilderness Boats  which are small canal boats that are purposely designed for dual use on the land and in the water.
