Wonderful stay

Grantown-on-Spey Caravan Park
We must have been staying on a different site to the previous reviewers. We had a wonderful 3 night stay. Very helpful staff, great pitch and spotless amenities. Well placed for walking into Grantown. We will definitely return for a stay. Thanks so much

Disappointed

Grantown-on-Spey Caravan Park
This was our final site after a tour around Scotland. After a 3.5 hour drive with the caravan in tow, my first task was comfort break. We pulled up to be told to follow the Buggy man to our premium hard standing pitch. Still desperately needing the comfort break, I was rushed into caravan manoeuvres with the buggy man shouting Right hand down, Left hand down. Once set up, I felt like I was in a caravan sales yard, the view was uninspiring - only the grassy banks to break up the tarmac. We where backing onto the entrance road to the site which seems to be the hangout for the local kids, shouting and swearing into the evening. The large trees lining the road blocked out any daytime sun. I guess we where just unlucky. But can only go with my gut feeling that this is a large commercial site. Toilet blocks where clean, and extra points for the hanging baskets, but the soap dispenser was empty for 3 days we stayed. The site WIFI was free, and worked well. The Town of Granton-on-Spey is beautiful, with many walks into the surrounding hills. Sorry, but it's not a site I would return to.

Disappointed to say the least

Grantown-on-Spey Caravan Park
We booked into this site full of expectation based on what we had heard from other visitors, unfortunately we left a little disappointed. We were allocated a pitch just to the right of the reception, which was supposed to be a hard standing fully serviced pitch. What we ended with was a pitch with little hard standing that turned into a muddy mess after it rained through the night. We were directly bellow trees and the noise of the water dropping onto the caravan roof in the early hours of the morning did not help us sleep. The toilet block where the showers were was pretty much like a paddling pool with no way of mopping up the pooled water, although there was an old ring type mop which did little more that spread the water around, probably a squeegee type tool would have been better and a drain . God knows why they allocated that pitch to us as there seemed to be others vacant that were dry, not below trees and in very good order. Nice setting, elsewhere on this site looked nice, unfortunately we did not have a decent pitch we would go back but never to that area in the site

Spotless but commercial, great for young children.

Grantown-on-Spey Caravan Park
Shown to pitch by warden, very efficient check in but had to pay by card before we arrived and pitch was allocated so no choice given. No information hut about local attractions but wardens answered questions. There is a great play area and the toilet blocks are modern and clean but are shut for 3 hours a day to be cleaned so there would be something wrong if they weren't after this amount of time! There is another block which can be used in this time. WiFi good speed and included in high pitch fee. Lots of different accommodation on site, statics, cabins, tent area etc. Great location and short walk into the town. Walks from the site but no dog walk on site. Unfortunately the grass banks designed to screen off pitches provided a play area for children to run along and cut through. During our short 3 night stay adults also squeezed down the side of the grass banks and the wooden fences and walked across our pitch several times. This appears to be the norm on this site. Feel this would be a good base for a young family with a caravan to explore the many attractions in this area but sadly not one for us to return to.

Immaculate but noisy

Grantown-on-Spey Caravan Park
A pleasant site with lots of other accommodation. There are no particular views and pitches are such that you are facing into other pitches. We were directed to a pitch by the warden who assisted in making sure that we were pitched correctly. It’s a shame that we couldn’t pitch with the caravan facing the opposite direction as there was better views. When are they going to do away with the silly rule of all caravans facing the same direction. The town is around 10 minutes walk which is fairly level and down the small roadway that leads to the site. Just a few minutes up there is Pagoda restaurant which is very popular and has a good menu. The no7 Bistro is also very good and is situated next to the co-op. The town has several shops, fish and chip shops and a few restaurants, although some were closed on Mondays and some on Tuesdays. There is a great shop down the High Street where you can refill containers with all kinds of goodies and they have a small cafeteria that is excellent. The site facilities are immaculate and well maintained including good disabled facilities. The downside was the jet engine noise that was omitted from the toilet block, likely to be the heating system. This went on all day and all night and we noted that caravan move pitch because of it. We didn’t find any recycling facilities. It’s around a 20 minute ride to Aviemore and the Speyside centre is en route that has a large gift shop and cafe
