October overnight stay

We stayed overnight in October en route from Barnstaple to Budleigh Salterton. It is a lovely well kept site with top class facilities including hot shower and laundry. Electruc and water at each pitch. All well spaced out with a river running at the bottom. There is a railway line at the bottom but is local and slow moving so didn't bother us. On arrival in Crediton I would take the road on the west side of town not the one past tesco. We came in that way with a 6m van and met cars, 2 tractors and a white van man who wouldn't budge so I had to reverse back to railway crossing. Went out and turned left and was much easier! Would visit again.

Our favourite CL

We have recently returned home after our third stay at this lovely CL. Previous reviews say it all. Karen and Jason are welcoming and helpful and Karen’s mum filled in when they were away. The site is very relaxed with incredibly spacious serviced pitches and is very well located close to the town, but very peaceful with no road traffic noise at all. We don’t notice the occasional train passing in the daytime and they don’t run at night. Crediton station is about a mile away on public footpaths so we walked there and used the trains to visit many of the local attractions and nearby towns. There are many places to visit in the area. We will definitely return.

I little piece of heaven

A truly beautiful site. The setting is just great, it’s so peaceful with absolutely no traffic noise and just the sound of the numerous owls and buzzards. We also spotted a kingfisher and a Peregrine Falcon. The pitches are very well spaced out so you get plenty of space to yourself. Everything is immaculately kept and well thought out. There are loads of lovely walks from the site including a nice riverside walk to the local train station if you want to venture further afield. The owners are friendly and welcoming and a lot of effort has been made to give lots of local information and recommendations. All in all, very impressed.

Relaxing and friendly site

We have just read the last review and could easily “copy and paste” as it echoes fully our own views of this excellent CL. The facilities are well thought out and spotless. The owners clearly understand the needs of guests. We received a very warm welcome from Karen’s Mum and it is evident of the pride that the whole family have for the site. All pitches sit on level ground and are very well spaced. Notwithstanding the large area, the grass is very well mown with all clippings picked up. The location offers so many walking opportunities direct from the site and the owners have taken the time and care to put together some detailed information giving different options. On our last day we undertook a circular walk stopping for lunch at The Duck in Yeoford which was very good. In summary, we could easily have extended our stay and it was a bit of a wrench leaving to make the long drive home to Suffolk. No hesitation in recommending this wonderful CL.

A very special CL site with a friendly feel

We enjoy the diversity of CL sites , they all have there own individual magic made special by the passion of the owners. CL sites are what make every trip an adventure and this quirky site oozes the passion of the owners, from the time you approach the site and see your name on the board at the entrance it makes you feel like a special guest. And it's reflected throughout the site, from the warm welcome of the owners to the immaculate incredibly spacious fully serviced level pitches, they are massive!. This facilities are spotless,a great spacious shower room with ample hot water, immaculate loos and washing up area with lovely deep stainless steel sinks. Lots of local information available in the laundry room along with even more facilities, the owners have thought about everything to make your stay enjoyable. Had some great walking routes available straight from the site with all the information about each route carefully explained on walk maps. We had a lovely relaxing three day stay and will be back again very soon

Fabulous site

Stayed at Beare Mill for 8 nights last month & it was our 1st stay but it won't be our last. This CL is lovely. Very spacious pitches, very warm welcome from Karen & Jason was really helpful with an issue I had with my caravan. The on site facilities were well maintained, always clean & tidy. For us, an added bonus was the passing of the trains. We didn't find them intrusive at all. The town isn't far away & will meet all your basic needs & more. Can easily recommend this lovely site 👍

Lovely July stay at Beare Mill CL site

We stayed two nights at Beare Mill in our motorhome. On arrival a board welcomed us with our name and pitch number on it. Karen came to say hello to us as we began to pitch up and couldn't have been more helpful. Gave us directions on walking into Crediton town centre and local walks. Helpful information already printed out to cover this in the laundry room along with other usual local information. Both fields are very pretty and pitch size is huge. There are loo's, a dish washing area and a shower which are very well maintained. Very chilled tucked away site. Karen very friendly and helpful. No hesitation in recommending Beare Mill.

Great site and facilities

Visited for a weeks stay. Pleasant owner Karen popped over to say hello and let us know where everything was, local walks etc. As other reviewers have said the site is really well laid out and very well maintained. The facilities were always clean and tidy, really good nice hot shower in large walk in wetroom. Peaceful and really quiet site (apart from occasional noise as local trains pass by the site during the day) with nice walks to Crediton. River accessed via field next to site was much appreciated by our dog to cool off in every day (it was 29º most days!) Central location to this part of Devon - we visited north coast (Saunton/Woolacombe), south coast (Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth), Dartmoor Tors etc all within easy reach. Exeter is a lovely small city to visit and close by. Access was fine for us as were in a campervan, but I would still visit even if towing (I've towed a van down worse roads than these) . All in all a great CL whether staying a while and exploring the area, or just stopping off for a couple of nights en-route to cornwall. We will certainly be back

Perfick

Returning to my native Devon for a holiday we choose Beare Mill for its proximity to family and friends and for our four small dogs. We arrived after a long day's towing (8 hours by me), and a diversion. Luckily I knew an alternative route so it was no problem. The access road is VERY narrow, be warned. The site is lovely - in fact I'd rather NOT leave a review because I don't want others to know about it! We prefer unregimented CLs. There is a separate area reached first which is more used by motorhomes, it seems, and then you go through a space in a hedge and the huge orchard awaits. The space was amazing, the peace and quiet (broken only by the river running by and an occasional therapeutic two-carriage train trundling very close by, to and from Exeter to Barnstaple) was wonderful A whole field to walk the dogs in up to a river pool. After setting up Karen arrived to make us welcome and make sure we were OK. The luxury of a serviced pitch on a CL, and grass collected when cut, will no doubt spoil us for future pitches. Excellent information board and map, a shower wet-room, toilets, washing machine. All clean and well maintained. We had our own EE router in the van so we could easily get TV and a signal. The weather was excellent and very hot. We liked it so much we stayed another three nights, making 11 in all. We'll be back - despite the lengthy journey to reach it! ,
