Why stay here ...

Beare Mill CL is set in the open countryside of Mid Devon. The site is flat and spacious with un restricted pitches. A network of footpaths can be accessed from the site. Well behaved dogs are welcome (Please keep them on a lead in the caravan CL field). An adjacent field lies through the Orchard where dogs can be let off the lead.

The Market town of Crediton is less than a mile away and can be easily reached by road or via footpaths. The town is full of independent shops with coffee shops, antique shops and shops selling daily necessities and take-aways etc. There are two supermarkets located on the edge of the town.

Crediton hosts a bi-weekly farmers market on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 10-1pm. The market sells local food and is often a busy and sociable event. Crediton Town celebrates its festival in June of each year and puts on many events and local flags line the High Street for the month.

The surrounding area has many pubs selling good food. In Crediton `The Three Littles Pigs` is in the Town Square and `The Steak House` is just off the square. Further afield in local villages; `The Beer Engine` at Newton St Cyres ` `The Lamb Inn` at Sandford and `The Lazy Toad` at Brampford Speke are popular.

The City of Exeter is located 7 miles away. A bus can be caught from Tuckers Close in Crediton 0.8miles from the site or a train. The train station can be reached by a footpath via the hamlet of Salmonhutch or by road, 1.9miles (parking at the station is free). The rail line runs from Barnstaple to Exeter.

The CL site is a good central location to explore the whole of Devon. Dartmoor is located 20 miles away with the stunning moors, and tors to investigate such as Hay Tor. The South coast line is 20 miles with Sandy Beaches on Exmouth or pebble beaches at Budleigh Salterton.  The North Devon Coastline is 50 miles with beautiful long sandy beaches such as Woolacombe. These beaches are excellent for body boarding or surfing.

We look forward to welcoming you at Beare Mill CL

It's a good site but not if you need phone or WiFi and beware the narrow access!

No complaints about the site and facilities which are fine. The welcome was nice and the owner helpful. However I needed Wifi on my phone and could not get it anywhere on the site. Obviously this is NOT at all the fault of the owner. I should have asked in advance. When I explained without complaint at all that I would have to move on because I needed to work online, the atmosphere turned distinctly frosty and I was told I should have realised that it would be a problem in Devon! Well maybe I should have done, but as a site owner it still pays to be pleasant. There was quite a lot of dog poo around the site presumably from the owners dogs which run around loose, and there were extra vans and tents in an adjoining field. The road to the site is very narrow and my van's mudguard was pulled loose by the vegetation you had to drag past. I was warned in advance that the approach road was very narrow, it is also quite long. No chance to pass anyone from opposite direction. A car I met had to back up over 200 yards.

tranquility

a lovely tranquil weekend's stay - no phone or internet connection ;-) with simple, but adequate facilites, level ground and 25 mins easy walk down country lanes into Crediton Town centre (where it's worthwhile visiting the Quirky Three Little Pigs pub / resturant - excellent food and beers too)

autumn break

Just spent a very enjoyable week at Beare Mill, lovely large flat field so you have massive range as to where you can park your caravan, the toilets are basic but very clean also the shower room is basic but clean also it is free!!, we both thought that seeing the train trundling past was a lovely site to see and caused us no bother what so ever, the approach road was a little bit on the narrow side but once you got to the c.l. it was all forgotten. There are plenty of fields to walk your dog, On our way home I caught my caravan mover on a old tree stump and I cant thank Audrey enough for the help that she gave me with her workmen helping me out . All in all it is a very good c.l. and we would return again hopefully with a little bit better weather!! any of the past reviews with people saying bad reports forget them it is a lovely c.l.

Beautifully situated, quiet and spacious with great walks

We really did appreciate this site. The situation is beautiful, tranquil (the odd 2 coach train that passes really doesn't make much of an impact) and there is a nice walk within the site with river frontage and bathing spots - perfect for dogs. It's a big field so the pitches are very well spaced but there were also really friendly regulars that gave us useful tips as to where to visit etc and we did lots of exploring. From the site you can easily walk in to Crediton via footpath up and over the hill just by the site. The facilities are basic but adequate and there are good recycling facilities and use of washing machine should you need it. The approach could be challenging - half a mile of single track with few passing places but we managed fine and we have a long combination. Thanks Cec and Audrey, we'll surely be back!

Disappointing

Chosen as a peaceful site with a toilet and shower within walking distance to Crediton but sadly found it disappointing. Whilst in a lovely spot and with an easy footpath walk into town, it was not particularly peaceful (trains and a 16th birthday party with smoky bonfire in an adjoining field). The toilet lights were most unreliable at night and the shower was frankly a bit grubby and very draughty. Would expect slightly better for modern camping, even as a CL.
