Great little stopover

Stayed here for one night as the site is close to the A1. Also on the edge of a village with a pub. Owner is friendly and welcoming. We were on hard standing but will come back in the summer when it arrives. Easy access Would recommend

Lovely CL

This CL is ideally placed as a stop off when travelling north or south on the A1 or for a few days of rest and relaxation. The owner provided detailed directions and we had no problem locating it. There were grass and hardstanding to pitch up on, which was fortunate as there had been heavy rain. Good access to local walks across open fields for the dog. Very quiet site with good views. Local pub looked inviting although we didn't get to try it this time. Would definitely return if in the area.

Lovely spot

A lovely quiet spot to stop off, easy access to the motorway but far enough away for no traffic noise. Very helpful owner Mr Simpson gave directions for local walks and dog walks direct from the site out onto farmland. Facilities provided are basic but includes electric and are very reasonable. Did not make it to the pub but hope it's still open for business.

Very warm welcome

The owner is so friendly and helpful. He gave us really good directions to find his lovely peaceful site. A really quiet spot with good walking opportunities, or if you just wanted to sit and relax, there are beautiful views across fields. The Green Dragon a community pub is less than 1/2 mile away. A great find and a useful stop if heading north or south on A1M. Electric hook up, chemical point, water and waste (not drive over), bins with recycling and a toilet if needed.

Great value site

We recently completed a 4-night stay at Melgoats. The owner Bruce was an excellent and friendly host offering info on local amenities and best routes as well as being on hand to welcome us and help us settle in. We heard next to no road noise despite the proximity of the A1. Well placed for access to Bedlale, Ripon and Wensleydale. Nice views from pitch, clean loo and hook-up all for £8.50 per night. Lots of friendly regulars use this site and we could see why : well done Bruce!

A little gem

Nice site with easy access, level pitches, EHU, CDP water supply & waste water drain (not drive over). Friendly and helpful owner. Very good value for money. Within easy driving distance for local attractions and the A1.Lovely views over the countryside. Main pitches are grass however there is a tarmac area if the grass is too wet.Quite close to RAF Leeming so you do hear some aircraft but not loud enough to disturb you. Will return.

Lovely site

We love this site. It sits at the end of a lane, lovely flat site with great views over countryside. Bruce could not be more helpful. Many of the users are regulars & so the site has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Easy walking from site for those with dogs, Bedale 5 minutes drive with a great mix of shops, and a spar, co-op & tesco express. Ideally situated for exploring the dales, we have visited before & will be back

Great site, warm welcome

Lovely views and friendly people, and what great value for money. Very relaxed, central to explore North Yorkshire.  Close enough to motorway for access but far enough away that you don't get any noise. Site is level with water and waste water points. Bruce goes out of his way to help, providing hot water and allowing the use of his washing machine. Long dog walks from site which is also a bonus for us. Would defiantly stay again

GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY

A secluded site at the end of a village country lane, offers flat pitches with open views across farmland. A well positioned site as an overnight stay for travelling on the A1M. Adjacent to the CL is a small area for long stay caravanners. Water supply with easy access, 16 amp electricity, no tap at Elsan disposal point but a bucket is provided for rinsing water. Did not use the WC. Bedale, 2 miles away offers a good range of shops and small supermarkets with a local community bakery as seen on tv. Further afield lies Northallerton, Richmond and Leyburn leading into the Dales, the workplace for Gervaise Phinn (school inspector and author) and James Herriott (vet) The Wensleydale railway starts at Leeming Bar stopping at Bedale with it’s terminus at Redmire looking acrosss to Penhill is well worth a trip. For Geocachers there are quite a few finds locally. We were there in April 2014, £8 pn inc. EHU, we think good value for the money and recommend this site.

Horrible

This site was full, when we arrived, although we had booked for 3 nights. It had many long term caravans on it, It had a water supply that was inaccessible for motor homes.as there were more than 5 vans on site. we decided that we would not stay as this is against club rules and a total fire hazard.
