Friendly site in a good position

We were rather surprised when we arrived at this cl, as it wasn't quite what we expected having read the foregoing reviews. The approach is up a long, initially steep gravelly slope, into a sloping field with a level area at the top for pitching. The photos shown are out of date, as there is now a track up the field and 2 hardstandings off of it. Trees line the top and rhs, and were full of birdsong. 2 areas are hardstanding, the others grass, which is cut but not collected. There were a lot of grass cuttings on our visit. Facilities are very well organized and set up, the waste and chemical waste areas at the bottom of the field, with good rinsing, as shown on the photos. Fresh water is halfway down on one side. The owners are lovely and very helpful, price £12.50 this year. There are lovely sea views, although there are old farm buildings in front and a caravan storage area next door. This will be screened when the new hedge grows up. We found the lanes disappointing for cycling, despite checking on ordinance survey maps,in reality they are narrow and winding, and very busy, with lots of dips and hills. Fine in the car and towing. There is significant road noise in the day, but very quiet at night. Saltburn is lovely, and as stated elsewhere, there is an Asda and ALDI nearby, plus fuel station. One thing to note is that on arrival, be ready to turn left Immediately after the railway bridge, its hardly any distance. Overall a good site for exploring by foot or car, with lovely friendly owners.
