Bad site

Its hard to find, the few days we were at this site has made sure we will never go back, it is very un even which made us spend a lot of time setting up, then we had a bike race through the site not 2 or 3 kids this was a proper bike race 40 or 50 bikes, when i complained was told it only happens once a year unlike the paint balling which is every week in the little wood right behind were the caravans are parked, i have been to lots of caravan sites over the years (20) and this one is the worst i have been too

Bluebell Wood

Had trouble finding the site as the satnav did not recognise this stretch of road as Hall Rd eventually find someone to ask directions but did not know it as Potash Wood but when I mention it was formerly the Lawns he knew and put me right. Well signed at entrance, entry via combination padlock. A bluebell wood is adjacent to the site and is used at weekends for paint ball games. (Bluebells in bloom 12 April) There is ample room to get your unit off the road in opening the entry gate. I was not able to get wi fi. Facilities were electric hookup, water supply, waste disposal (septic tank and bins for rubbish. I agree with another review that it is expensive. I was there for 2 nights and not a soul came round to greet you your left to it basically, but not a problem Bluebells currently in bloom was a bonus (April) Some noise from the road as it gets busy at time's but acceptable. Bluebell wood behind you , horse paddock in front make it more pleasing.

Poor

No one has yet mentioned the wifi facility which is advertised but NOT AVAILABLE! Other comments by others are valid - this is not a peaceful site & the paintballers are a pain (very noisy people!). I think the price is too high (we stay on many CLs so I think we can judge. However the location (being close to Southend) is great and ultimately why we may return.

Message from The Club:

Thank you for your review. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your time in the area. We regret to hear, however, that you found the paintballers in the area a nuisance. We have discussed this with the paintballing staff and it has been agreed that the CL grounds are out of bounds to paintballers and that the games entrance area should be staffed at all times, as previously instructed.

We always do our utmost to improve the facilities for our visitors and we would welcome you to contact us directly if you wish to discuss your experience in further detail. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to experience the high standard of service we have become known for.

Not clear I structions

Had trouble finding the actual CL site, we took turning as said in book but ended up at a not particularly nice site. After speaking to a camper, was told there are 2 sites..to go to office in house nearby. Seems we were at wrong Site. Had to go back out yo main road and further down road about another 50 yards. Site fine, but very close to busy road. Bus stop about half mile away. Footpath along the road, so no problem.

Fine for an overnight stay

We stayed here during August 2014, we had booked via telephone and were given information regarding code on padlock on the gate. We struggled with this and ended up having to phone again to request some help. Finally we managed to unlock it. Unfortunately there was only space near the entrance left, the road was close by and is quite noisy. We spent quite some time trying to pay for our stay, eventually one of the staff managed to contact the Farm Manager who was able to help us. The area at the rear of the site is used for paintballing and we were pestered quite a lot by people wanting to gain access and asking us to let them in. There was a notice asking us not to do this and we didn't feel altogether comfortable with the constant interruptions. I think it would be an okay overnight stay if you were attending a function at the hall etc. However, it was not peaceful or relaxing.

Good if you need to be in the area

We would say this is a good site if you are going to an event at The Lawn or want to participate in paintballing. The CL is just off a well used B road so carefully pull off before unlocking the padlock gate. There is a wood to one side and paddock on the other which is pretty. We would recommend that you go straight ahead upon entering the gates and stay as far away from the road as possible to avoid hearing the street noise and having your mornings interrupted on the weekends. Paintballing occurs in the woods that is just next to the electric hook ups. They start early morning and we were on the electric hook straight ahead and the first caravan that people see upon entering the gate, we had many participants coming to our caravan asking where to go for the paintballing and wanting us to let them in. There were signs up stating that thieves were in the area and to keep the gate locked, on the weekend they open it wide and allow cars to park on the CL. As a result there is an electric hook up close to the gate (immediately to the right, next to the road as you enter) this was filled with cars on the Saturday so we were happy we didn't pick that EHU! We stayed here in July 2013 and won't be back.
