Great little stop over

Pros: Access good Excellent views £15 with EHU Very quiet Cons: Probably not suitable for very large vehicles if 3 or 4 units already on site. Ramps might be needed. A definite place to stay just for the peace and quiet, it is a working farm, but very little noise. Owners are very nice

Ideal stopover

Used the CL on way up to the Highlands. Super little site with all facilities to hand. Pleasant welcome and glorious scenery.

Lovely little site

We stopped over for 1 night on our way North. It was very easy to find; close enough to the A74 to make it an easy break but far enough to not have any road noise. A great view across the fields and if clear enough you can see the Isle of Man. Reasonably priced petrol stations in Lockerbie, just down the road. We have quite a long car & caravan combination. Maneuvering with the motor mover was needed as the sute is quite narrow but was no problem.

Handy stopover

We stayed for one night on way up to the Highlands. Owner was very pleasant and we would probably had a longer chat had it not been raining. We found the CL a little narrow to manoeuvre and levelling blocks required due to the slope. The views were stunning. The bins and waste area were tidy and out of the way the other side of the gate.

Whins, Ecclefechan....a braw wee site.

This is a grand quiet basic farm site with EHU and 2 H/S pitches. It could be a bit cramped with 5 vans but there is room. The site is easily reached being less than 3 miles from the A74(M) junction 20, the last 1/2 ml or so is along a tarmac farm road, which is ideal for walking ones dog being virtually traffic free. It commands good views over open fields towards The Solway and Criffel and there is a footpath behind the site up into a wood where one might see Red Squirrels. There are plenty of places of interest close within easy driving distance such as the Thomas Carlyle's birthplace, Caerlaverock Castle, Sweethearts Abbey and the forest at Ae and Mabie. There is good low level walking around the Hoddom estate on marked trails. Annan is about 4 miles from the site and has an Aldi and a Tesco with petrol. It is an ideal site for those that just want an overnight stop when travelling to of from Scotland, or as a base to explore The Solway Coast. Great value at £10 per night and we will certainty be using it again.

Lovely site with very easy access to motorway.

You have great views to the Lake District, Solway Lowlands and the Isle of man. Slightly sloping hard standing on some pitches. The perfect stopover site, but plenty to see nearby. Very nice owners.

IDEAL CL ON OUR HALFWAY STOP HOME FROM THE HIGHLANDS

We used this as last minute booking, half way stop on our journey home from the Western Highlands. Owner very cheerful & pleasant. It ticked the main boxes we look for with CL's ,(as we prefer these to Club sites), which are:- clean & tidy, fantastic setting with panoramic views & most important the grass was short & lawns maintained (long grass is a bugbear). With the added bonuses of electric hook up, not far from the A74, & hard standing pitches we will definitely be booking this idyllic spot again!

Stop off on our way North

This is a perfect small site for either a short or long stay as it is close to the motorway and A75/76. Good communication when making an enquiry and warm welcome from the owners, with the directions in the site directory proving clear and accurate. In terms of access, we had absolutely no problems with our 7.5 metre motorhome and used levelling ramps once on the hard standing. The views from the site were lovely as mentioned on previous reviews. We did not explore local places of interest as we were just passing through but will definitely call in again.

Beautiful but a little noisy

We arrived at the site and it was a little tricky getting in as the field is quite narrow. There is no room for manoeuvring so if you don't have a motor mover you will have problems. The depth of the field is quite literally the length of a standard caravan and a car and this is how you are meant to pitch up. You also need lots of levelling blocks on some of the pitches as they are quite steeply sloping especially near the gate. The furthest ones have less of a slope. We had the most beautiful view of the Solway firth and were shown where to walk the dogs in the woods high up behind us. The downside was that the access road to the site is very busy with a lot of large trucks going to and from the farm. When you turn into the site it is a little tight. When driving off the site, be very aware that you do not have a clear view in either direction and it helps if the passenger gets into the road to check before you exit the site. The owner is very nice and helpful in all aspects and it is very good value for money. Mobile access was reasonable.

Great Views and Nice and Quiet

Just a stopover for us but found the site nice and easy, Pitches are on a slight slope so blocks needed at the front but nothing major. Owner came down from the farm to make sure everything was ok and had a chat. The views over to Northern Lakeland Fells and Dumfries and Galloway area are superb on a clear day , also the young cows in the next field visited us to make sure we were ok. Plenty to do out and about. If you are going to stop for a few days you will need to use your Caravans Toilet and Shower as site only has the basics . Will return Many Thanks
