Great Location

We visited this site in September 2021 It is within easy reach of excellent beaches at Saint Cyprien and Argeles and interesting villages both coastal and inland - Collioure - Castelneau - Thuir etc The site enjoys a lovely pool and restaurant area The staff work hard to keep the toilet and other facilities clean and tidy Recognising that it was September and this is only a 3 star site we did think the pitches were a little uncared for and offered very little direct sunlight. The pitch surfaces got very muddy when it rained

Home from Home

We have stayed at this site for 14 years and it is always welcoming and friendly. We are long term out of season caravanners, and the mix of like minded people of all nationalities makes it always a memorable trip. If you ask, nothing is too much trouble for the owners and the staff. The setting is beautiful, like being in a Botanical garden. Toilets twice a day in low season. The surrounding area is quiet, but very close to the coast. The Friday boule competition is always good fun, and music nights are always good

july 17 visit

Our 9th visit. We love it. Quiet and few children in July. Local lake great to run round. Beaches nearby and concerts/fireworks in local villages are great - out every night. But it is a long way to drive into this corner of France.

Excellent site in great location

Stayed for 15 nights in Aug/Sep. Located 5 mins walk from the quiet village of Palau del Vidre, just 10-15 mins drive from the beaches of Argeles and surrounding areas and within short drives to so many interesting villages e.g. Collioure on the coast, Ceret and Castelnou up in the hills etc. The family run site has modern, clean facilities, an excellent good sized pool and a very pleasant adjacent bar and restaurant. A limited no of pitches have individual water supply. Plenty of trees, so there is good shade all round the site.  There is an adjacent railway line but don't let this put you off.  We were pitched on the part of the site towards this line but the occasional rumble is barely heard, no doubt due to the wooded nature of the site. Wifi can be purchased at reasonable rates and internet reception was adequate rather than fast. The motor home service point doubles as a car wash area which is quite unusual and useful, given the summer heat and inevitable dust. We much preferred this lovely site to the huge, noisy sites in Argeles itself.

Lovely week at Le Haras

We have stayed at this site a number of times over the years.  We decided to visit again this year and were not disappointed.  We were given a choice of pitches and We chose a lovely pitch with views towards the mountains (we wouldn't have been able to choose this pitch if we didn't have a motor mover).  Easy access to beaches and mountains.

GREEN OASIS

While the pitches are not particularly big they are in a lush green setting with specimen trees (mostly labelled). Facilities are clean and well maintained. Pool is a good size and warm enough for old timers to swim in. Restaurant is good with a good choice of food that is well cooked and presented in pleasant surroundings. I liked the(free) car washing facility - the trees are home to a lot of birds! Lots to do in the area. We were there late May and most of June.

Overnight stop

We only stayed here one night. Initial impressions were good and the site had a nice feel about it. I purchased extra wiFi but we struggled to get a good connection despite trying different locations. Don't know if this had anything to do with the heavy rain. It wasn't a busy time and we were allowed to choose our own pitch. Only one toilet block open but it was very clean and plenty of hot water. Staff were friendly. The site had a variety of trees and bushes and most were labelled which we found interesting. It wasn't too far from the coast and we visited a few of the coastal towns. This may seem petty but a nearby cockerel made it impossible to sleep after 5am but I think you would get used to its dulcet tones if you were staying longer. I would recommend this site, it was good value for money in the off peak season.

Le haras

I agree with Sophie 1802 we have been going to this site for ten years this year we had groups of 12-13 year olds roaming the site with nothing to do and not supervised by parents.the shower & toilet blocks had youngsters sitting on the walls.the shower block needs to be made larger to cope with amount of people on site at peak times.a really nice site but getting to many people for the facilities available may not be returning again!

Response from the Caravan Club:

Thank you for writing this review and for bringing these issues to our attention.  We are glad that you think that it is a really nice site.  We have contacted Le Haras and asked them to reply to your comments.

Response from Le Haras:

"We are sorry that you did not inform us during your stay, if you had we would have intervened straight away.   We are always vigilant regarding the cleaning of our facilities (they are checked and cleaned 3 times a day in high season).  Regarding the facilities, their capacity has been validated by an approved local authority and complies with the standards of a 4 star campsite."
