Winter Holiday

We moved here after staying at La Manga the other long stay Winter Rally resort lots of folks recommended this site and many loved it and were regulars however it was not for us. Yes the facilities are good, clean and lots of showers hot water but the place has no soul its a huge site. We weren't part of the Rally as we were only there for 10 days. we hired a car for 7 days (very cheap) as unless you are prepared and able to travel there is very little close by to see or do. The coast is a good 30 minutes away. The pools looked lovely but the large family one was closed as out of season and the lovely smaller pool which was open for swimming, if brave as very cold and sun bathing but as we had the dog it was a no go zone for us which of course is perfectly understandable. The shop was okay, stocked fresh bread and some pastries daily. We didn't eat in the Restaurant or Bar because of our dog but the food in the bar did look good and the drinks were all fine but its card only in the bar. The site gets very busy at the weekends with the Spanish families and for families there is plenty to do especially for the children looked to be clubs and areas for them to play. The nature reserve is walkable distance and is the little town where they have a weekly market. I am sure that the folks who were part of the rally had a totally different experience from us there were a lot of folks on the rally as they were at the far end of the sight. Would I stay there again - no not for us but as the facilities are so good I am sure that many will find it most suitable for a stopover or couple of nights.

Winter Rally 2024

Our first European rally and won’t be our last. We had great fun and met lots of lovely people. The hosts were brilliant and lots of events were arranged. The bar was reasonable but the food was a bit hit or miss. We were extremely lucky with the weather and days by the pool were a bonus. If there was one takeaway, though, it was to hire a car if you’re in a motorhome as the site is a bit out of the way and, as someone who doesn’t ride a bike, it wasn’t possible to explore much of the area.

Winter Rally

We were Winter Rally virgins here but were welcomed by the hosts at the CMC rally and many of the more experienced rallies. The site is huge. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but used the bar a few times 🥃🥃 The hosts at the rally worked very hard to run the rally and there was more than enough to do. Great fun and lovely people. You definitely need transport so we hired a car. Many used bicycles, especially electric ones. Facilities were excellent. Can r3commend a winter stay here 👍

Big Big site , not very good . Booked for a week stayed 2 nights

This is a truly massive sight , I think they claim it's the largest site in Europe . We stayed at the end of March 2023 . A lot of the pitches are occupied by full timers , with lots of tents and gazebo's and awnings attached to various types of vans and caravans . We thought it gave the site the feel of a bit of a transit camp . We had a meal at the bar / restaurant , the food was very poor quality so we didn't go back . There is very little to see in the local area so without a car you are stuck to the facilities on site . It's about a 20 minute cycle into the local town , this was quite pretty and did have a few restaurants . Overall we found the site very bleak I will definitely not return. Maybe if we had a family with small children in the summer months when the main pool is open it would have been more attractive , but for the winter months with only a very small unheated pool open it's not very appealing . We will give the site a star rating of two.

Alannia Winter Rally - 2022

I hope it is not too late to include our thanks and appreciation to all who made this year’s Winter Rally the success it was. We were delighted when we heard that the rally was going to go ahead once again under the stewardship of Lyn and Bob and can only send our thanks to all who helped make it the success it was. Yes, there were fewer of us than in years past, but that only made it all the more friendlier. True, there was not such a large programme of events, but those that did happen were very well supported. Even when we had cases of Covid amongst us, sensible precautions were taken and we were quickly able to resume the activities. Grateful thanks to all who made Alannia 2022 the great success that it was and here’s to next year’s Rally! Rosemary & Robin MItchell

Good provided you are OK with BIG BIG Sites

We have stayed three times here now - principally because it is a good one night stop over going to and from the South of Spain. The food at the restaurant was not good - very plastic and lacking in flavour. Pitches level and the BBC TV link was appreciated - however it only worked with the cable direct into the TV and not via the caravan aerial booster. Access is easy even for big units. However with over 1200 pitches you have to like BIG sites to be comfortable, We did not but would return due to its convenient location. Bags to do and see in Alicante

Quality

So, Previous reviewers have mentioned what's on offer here so I'll talk about my time here. As a club warden I get to overwinter in the sun. I chose to come here in 2011 and have basically never looked back. From the easy access off the ap7, the ample check in parking to the friendly professional reception staff. That has not changed in the 7 winters we've had here. The site itself is massive with around 1200 pitches in neat rows, basically a grid system. There are 5 toilet blocks that are cleaned regularly through the day, the water pressure is immense and always hot. There is a winter rally held at the bottom of the site by the camping and caravanning club from October to May, that gets busy. After touring Portugal and Spain for the last 7 years we've decided we love the feel of this site and have bought a seasonal pitch for our RV. Come give it a try, it has a lot to offer JK

big site

When we arrived my OH was absolutely horrified having just come from a small peaceful site in the Sierra Navada - we arrived on a sunday. Booking in took a while as there was a queue. There is a large reception, social plazza, pool, spar etc. etc. We were allocated our pitch, which after 1 hour didnt suit us, so reception gave us a choice of 2 others. The pitches are back to back, north/south, so half the pitches do not get morning/evening sun if you have a unit behind you which is positioned across the pitch so to speak. Very anti social, the Spanish don't do it. I think people that do this should pay for 2 pitches. I would have given top marks for facilities, but the dish washing is open air and on most days a keen wind was blowing through. The AP7 motorway gets noticeable at night, especially if the wind is in the wrong direction. This is a BIG site with impressive facilities, very good location for the local nature reserves and historic towns. I enjoyed late afternoon bird watching on El Hondo reserve. The air quality during our month stay was very poor. This is obviously out of the control of the site. It may have been unusual but there were many fires burning rubbish locally. The weather conditions during our stay may have contributed to this. The final niggle is that you have to book the indoor pool 24 hours in advance. On balance we enjoyed our stay but will try and use smaller sites in the future.

Winter Break

As commented on before a nice site until the Spanish arrive at weekends with absolutely no road sense. It's amazing not many children have been injured! Restaurant is only open at weekends unless there is a special function on which is a shame because rhe surroundings and food can be good.Bar meals are very simple. Not all toilet blocks were open when we arrived and due to the size of the campsite can get a fair hike to the nearest one particularly in the rain or at night. Loved the WiFi 25 euros a month that worked well and water and electricity on pitch as well as TV . The campsite is very flat and exposed which can also be a problem in strong winds. The campsites facilities were always spotlessly clean.

Great site, shame about the sunbeds

We spent a week in October here and loved the site. It can be noisy at weekends when the Spanish families descend but it was certainly quieter in the week and the added bonus was that the outdoor pool was open despite literature suggesting it closes in September. The facilities are excellent and very clean although there is the usual drainage smell from the shower gullies at certain times of the day. I think it is better suited to a caravan than motorhome as it is a little isolated if all you have is a bike. On saying that, there are good cycling routes and the nature reserve was well worth a visit and that's just down the road. Staff were all friendly and helpful, even for happy hour! The animation team worked hard and the sports facilities are excellent. Our only real grievance was the sunbeds by the outside pool, and this also applies to the sister site at Guardamar. They are covered in white waterproof fabric but are going mouldy so they don't look very attractive and they aren't very comfortable. For a 5 star resort we would expect better. Other than that, we thought it was excellent and we will certainly go again.
