For anyone with a sweet tooth, Bakewell in England is a must-visit destination.

This small market town in Derbyshire is best known for the Bakewell pudding (it's sometimes called a Bakewell tart, but the name and actual recipe is a hotly-debated topic). The sweet treat comprises a buttery pastry base with a layer of sieved jam. It's topped with a filling made of egg and almond paste.

Other highlights include one of Britain's best Farmers' Markets, the Old House Museum and the nearby Monsal Trail. The latter is popular for walking, cycling and horseriding and boasts some of the prettiest views in the Peak District.
