Why stay here ...

Sleepy Hollow has spacious 7m (21 feet) wide hardstanding pitches suitable for caravans/ motorhomes/ campervans with awnings. Each pitch has its own EHU and the site has a toilet, shower and outdoor pot-wash area with hot water. During summer/ autumn we allow those staying on the site to walk up through our fields next to the site to take in the stunning views down the valley, perfect for a short walk for the dogs pre breakfast and bed time! We have a bench at the top for you to sit and watch the sun go down over Carsington Water.

The site is a 1 mile walk to the town of Wirksworth. There is a bus service at the bottom of our lane (200m from site) that runs to either Ashbourne via Carsington Water, or Matlock via Wirksworth.

Wirksworth has many hidden gems – Ecclesbourne Valley Steam Railway, the star disc, the National Stone Centre, the Hidden Garden as well as numerous pubs to cater for all tastes – real ale, live bands, good food, dog friendly – whatever suits your needs! In addition to this Wirksworth is renowned for its art and craft so you will find boutique art shops – when you need a break, have a breather in one of the numerous coffee shops or French Bistro.

There are also cash machines and a Co-op (with fuel station) should you need cash or pick up supplies, not forgetting a variety of takeaways.

If you enjoy the outdoors, the High Peak Trail can be picked up a mile from the Caravan Site at Middleton Top, cycle hire is available there, and there are many short and longer walks around the area. Carsington Water is a quick drive (or walk) for those wanting to walk/ bike/ run around it (1/2 miles away from site) - the visitor centre has a restaurant called the Main Sail with views across the water.
5 minutes further afield and you can be visiting Cromford and Richard Arkwright's mills for those wanting to know more about the history of the area, and for the book worms – Scarthin bookshop is a must in Cromford (as are the cakes in the café there!)

Matlock, Belper, Ashbourne and Bakewell are close by – and there are bus routes that can take you there. Historic houses such as Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Kedleston Hall are all in easy reach.

Both well-behaved children and dogs are most welcome. We look forward to welcoming you to our site.
