Great CL

Blakelow Farm
Lovely peaceful site. Although there are chickens and guinea fowl who do let you know they are there no problem for us. There is a long hose which is connected to a tap at the side of the bungalow so we had no problem filling our on board tank. There is no bus stop nearby but we enjoyed our walks one across from the site and along the road which is not too busy. There are two good sized garden centres within walking distance with restaurants also there is a cafe a short walk away and the scenery is lovely. Plenty of space on site and quite level. Great site for walkers! Thankyou Mrs Wale.

Not for our motorhome

Blakelow Farm
Was amazed to find, on arrival that there was no tap within hosepipe range. This is surely a must for motorhomes. The owner was a friendly lady and in the end we managed to fashion something by breaking a join in a hose that connects to the toilet disposal tap and leads to the cowsheds! The field is full of chickens and Guineafowl that seemed cute, but the latter made an awful racket and it drove the dog mad. The pitches were ridiculously small and so, when a caravan arrived next to us with their puppy, we were banished inside, basically. We couldn’t let the dog outside because it sent their dog wild. I’m afraid we left after the first night, leaving gouges in the field because it was too wet for motorhomes.

A Relaxing site

Blakelow Farm
Used this site en-route to Monmouthshire for two nights. Wished we could have stayed longer, the site was situated on an elevated position offering excellent views of this wonderful countryside, we were made very welcome by Mrs Wale. We would definitely return for a longer visit.

Nice friendly site

Blakelow Farm
Small farm site with chickens, geese, ducks etc. Sloping so need levellers. Owner very friendly and extremely helpful. Near to many interesting places. Definitely worth a visit.

Good for adults too

Blakelow Farm
The site was easy to find and the welcome very friendly, with the owner show us where water etc. was. With hens and guinea fowl running about through the day there was always something to watch and with the guinea fowl to hear too. From the site it is easy to access a lot of the tourist attractions which this part of the world is famous for. Also there is a lot of good walking in this area with one footpath almost directly opposite the gate which led down the hill to Tansley village and pub about 20 mins easy walking but remember it's all up hill on the way back. Turning left out of the gate and follow the road to the 'T' junction take a right and there is a very nice cafe, almost opposite this is a weekend car boot site. Returning to the 'T' junction if you turn left here and continue to the left hand bend there is a bridle path on the right where you can leave the car and walk to Ashwell this a lovely walk of about 4 miles and fairly easy going there are some steps very near the end close to Ashwell but a couple of very welcome watering holes selling food as a reward for your efforts. We will definately return here again.
