Withernsea Certificated Locations

The town of Withernsea is situated in the East Riding of Yorkshire and is often overlooked by those heading past on their way to Hull. However, it is well worth a visit, particularly if you're looking for a good, old-fashioned, family-friendly seaside resort.

It boasts a European Blue Flag beach and a dramatic, towered entranceway where the pier once stood. You can walk right along the promenade, where you'll find children's playgrounds, amusement arcades and even an open-air theatre.

Head a little further and there's the Spurn Peninsula with a nature reserve housing an array of plants, butterflies and birds.

Back in Withernsea itself, the most famous attraction is the inland lighthouse. This is now dedicated to the film star Kay Kendall who was born in the town, but there are also exhibits pertaining to RNLI Lifeboat and HM Coastguard history. Climb right to the top for excellent views over the Humber Estuary.

Withernsea offers a range of pubs, chip shops and other eateries and additional highlights include former Cold War bunker RAF Holmpton and walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside.
