A real Gem of a site

Bank Top Farm Bungalow
Just returned from this site after a lovely Easter stay and have only good things to say about this cracking little CL, The hosts Robert and Janet were two of the nicest people you could wish for, nothing was too much trouble, they advised on walks and pubs etc in the area and were always on hand if needed but never intrusive, I can highly recommend this site and we found it great value for money with the added bonus of being on site during the end of the lambing season. Using CL’s more and more these days and finding some lovely ones but this has to be the best we have stayed on so far.

Lovely peaceful stay beautiful surroundings

Bank Top Farm Bungalow
Just arrived home from 5 nights at Bank Top Farm Bungalow campsite, we found the place really quiet and peaceful, the owner Janet was very welcoming, and informative. Arrival is via the main gate and then a quick right, left, right turns which although a concern was easily navigated by me, a rookie caravanner, once onto the site it was easy. The pitches a good size, and plenty of space to put an awning up, all the hardstanding's are on a dark Cinder, which was great as it was wet when we were there and reduced mud. The view of Pendle hill is amazing. You have freedom to walk on the owner's land and it's a lovely circular 30 min walk down to the river and around the Farm with our dogs. There are loads of walks around the area some from the site and many more within a short drive. There are also lots of places for Pub Lunches within a short distance. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

Little Gem of a Site

Bank Top Farm Bungalow
A great little site with EHU, grey waste and chemical waste. Hardcore standing areas for motorhomes and caravans. The pitches are side on although we parked with cab facing inwards so our dinette windows overlooked the fabulous view of Pendle Hill. Sawley is just a ten minute walk away with the Spread Eagle pub service good food. Although not marked on the OS map, the owners did allow us to walk through their fields and along the river. We didn't do any long walks as our dog is getting a little old now but we do intend on coming back to explore further another time. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We did have an issue with our electric cable and so the owner lent us theirs for our stay. Great value for money.

Peace marred by others

Bank Top Farm Bungalow
Lovely views from site, Spread Eagle pub good and lovely walk into Chatburn along the river and nice lunch at the Brown Cow. Bit difficult to get 8.5 motorhome into the pitch but got there. Shame no sun at all from 5pm as all shaded. Hardcore on the pitches lumpy and rough in places. Lovely helpful family that run the site and great eggs/jams/biscuits for sale. There was dog poop around plus one on our pitch. Unfortunately on the 2nd night a family arrived with 2 children (no problem with the children) it was their 2 dogs they allowed to run free everywhere all over the pitches and toileting. Family constantly shouting at the dogs. The owners saw the dogs doing this but nothing done about it. This upset our dogs which made sitting out very unrelaxing.. Shame as was peaceful until then, we did speak to the family about their dogs but they seemed to think it was perfectly acceptable. We left a day early.

View of all views

Bank Top Farm Bungalow
This site is quiet even though alongside a working farm, sheep mainly. The owners and family are lovely people and a view of Pendle Hill to die for. Well located for Ribble Valley, Yorkshire Dales, even Blackpool. There is a walk across the fields down to the River Ribble, a must for birdwatchers....Oyster Catchers, Sand & House Martins, Little Ringed Plovers, Heron, Common Sandpiper to name a few. A 40 minute circuit which, if you don't do, you have missed a trick. Couple of helpful hints - there is a sharp right turn after a left turn by the farmhouse, BUT you can go straight on and circle back round to access the pitch. Secondly, the pitches are side on. Therefore, you won't get the wonderful views over the valley and Pendle Hill. Take time to angle your caravan - so you can look out the front. We managed to site our 7.4m caravan and awning, so we could look out onto the wonderful view and not your next door neighbour. Motorhome owners tend to park sideways. Thank you for a perfect 2 week holiday, not only the best view ever from a caravan pitch but we'll located for touring.
