Friendly, enthusiastic and informative.

Jervaulx Abbey CL
Can only agree with preceding reviews, but must add that the family that owns and runs the place are inspirational. The young lady was so helpful and informative when we booked, and also gave us a tour of the tea room as was. Sadly staffing difficulties have led to its closing, it's now used for weddings. She also showed us a model of the Abbey. Her father was very generous with his time, giving us a potted history of the place.

Idyllic location

Jervaulx Abbey CL
A tranquil site with easy access to lovely walking, including down the river valley. Jervaulx Abbey itself is just across the road and a magical place, beautifully kept in a way which retains the atmosphere of these very special ruins. Well worth a visit, and setting aside time to wander and absorb the atmosphere (entry via honesty box, the donations being essential to the site's upkeep). The Blue Lion at East Witton is highly recommended.

Lovely Easter weekend stay

Jervaulx Abbey CL
We arrived on good Friday no problems well signed to the CL, next to the field behind with the lovely lambs in, I rang and paid the remainder of the money and off we went for a walk along the river to the cover bridge Inn, next day walked to Masham and back and then the last day we cycled to middleham on the quieter roads and up to leyburn, please note you need your own facilities there is only a toilet but if you have them why not use them,

Windy Night in a beautiful location

Jervaulx Abbey CL
All the information is provided at the time of booking, this includes how to find pitch, services, etc. As you don't meet anyone on arrival perhaps confirmation of this information by email would be useful. The family live on-site so if there are any issues I'm sure they'd be happy to help. The CL is part of a larger site with a Rally Field, camping grounds and Shepard's huts. The facilities were more than adequate for a CL. The site was very well kept. We were the only people staying so had the place to ourselves. The views from our pitch across the fields were very nice. It was also a real treat to be able to nip over the road to visit Jervaulx Abbey ruins. The nearby Brymor Ice Cream parlour and cafe is a must for kids (and big kids). We also called at Masham which is a pretty little village with a couple of big Brewery's which offer tours. When we left we headed up to Leyburn which again is well worth a visit.
