Tenbury Wells lies just north of the Malvern Hills and makes a great base for exploring them. They were designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1959.
The town itself is well known for its large number of Georgian and listed buildings, with the Round Market and the Gothic Pump Rooms being particularly striking sights. It also has a number of independent shops, making it a great place to find something a bit different.
Visitors can also enjoy Tenbury Museum, although some elements of it are not for the squeamish: There is a display of old surgical instruments used in Tenbury Hospital. Local surgeon Dr. Henry Hill Hickman was one of the pioneering users of inhaled anaesthetics
