Kirkwall Certificated Locations

The Scottish town of Kirkwall is located on the northern coast of Mainland Orkney and is the capital of the Orkney Islands.

It is extremely popular with visitors because there is plenty to do and a rich sense of history, as well as a welcoming community feel.

You can check out the locally-made jewellery, crafts and fashions at a range of independent boutiques and shop for fresh produce to use in your meals. If you prefer to eat out, you won't be disappointed; there are plenty of restaurants, pubs and bars to choose from, many with live music in the evenings.

For history buffs, don't miss St Magnus Cathedral, Bishop's Palace, Earl's Palace, Tankerness House Museum and the Orkney Wireless Museum.

Another must-see is the Grain Earth House within Hatston Industrial Estate, a prehistoric monument that takes visitors deep underground if they dare to venture in.
