Why stay here ...

The Gatehouse CL was originally a toll gate built in about 1830.

It is found in a very quiet road with a private, sheltered and level site, with hard standings and surrounded by trees.

Access to the Miners Walk (the old coal railway line) is opposite the site which is great for dog walkers, so well behaved dogs are welcome.

Klgetty village is a 5 minute walk away and has a petrol station, bakery, supermarket, chemist, take aways and other shops. Also not forgetting the Begelly Arms Hotel at the end of the road serving good food.

We are 4.5 miles from Tenby and 1.5 miles from Saundersfoot with lovely beaches and harbours.

National Express and local bus routes stop at the end of the road and the train station is 0.5 miles in Kilgetty village. Entrance to the site is through a stone gateway allowing access to even the largest outfits with care.

Advance booking is recommended for peak times as we have many regular visitors.

We hope you come and visit us and do not forget to ask for your welcoming cup of tea!

June 2024

The Gatehouse
What a warm and friendly welcome from Pamela and Geoff with the offer of a tray of tea on arrival. The site was pretty, quiet and peaceful for our weeks stay with very clean toilet and shower facilities. They both had so much knowledge of the surrounding area, local amenities including shops and places to eat. Pam provided detailed maps of local walks that we were able to follow with ease. We both really enjoyed our stay at Gatehouse and would highly recommend. Helen & Andy.

Lovely little site

The Gatehouse
We booked this site last minute after leaving a terrible place further up coast. We were so relieved to find a nice, welcoming site with friendly, smiley owners who welcomed us and our dog. Excellent location with just short walk to village where we got a bus into Tenby for the day. Our only concern was the turning space for our 7m motorhome without driving across soft grass. Fortunately, we arrived before all pitches were full, so not a problem, but wouldn’t have wanted to park it when all pitches occupied. However, don’t let this put you off staying at a lovely little CL. We will happily stay again anytime.

A superb welcome to this gem of a CL

The Gatehouse
Just had a wonderful stay at this beautiful CL site. With a warm welcome from Pam with a tray of tea/coffee on arrival, such a lovely touch. The site has the benefit of shower/ toilet facilities and all pitches are well spaced. The location is perfect and both Tenby and Saundersfoot can be reached with ease. Supermarket ,garage ,bakery and takeaway/restaurants all in close proximity too. We didn’t have the best of weather on leaving so Pam and Geoff guided us safely off our pitch too. Always going out of their way, they’re perfect hosts. We can thoroughly recommend this CL and will be returning for sure.

Also mixed feelings

The Gatehouse
We too had mixed feelings about this site but maybe for different reasons. We are motorhomers and we spend a lot of time researching an area to ensure all amenities and facilities are close to hand. Location very good, great for bus, train, shop, takeaway (didn't use) and walks. However, both nearby pubs were very disappointing, nearest one, no dogs inside, the other did not look inviting (run down) so we didn’t try either. The site itself was sheltered, flat, spacious and pleasant, the owners were friendly but maybe a bit too friendly for us. Instead of being left alone in private, they were always around, some campers perhaps like the company but it all felt a bit "too personal" for us. The toilet, shower & waste disposal were all in their actual garden, not ideal and rather basic. No hot water in the sink, shower not clean and shared with huge spiders. Also, the walks to the beaches were definitely further than suggested and very steep. We are both in our late 50’s and fit but it took longer than the suggested 45/50 mins and was more like 3 miles on our computers! Check Google maps first. Priced at £22 a night with electric, seems to be the going rate in view of the current fuel price increases but not worth paying anymore.
