First time out without our little Puss

It’s heart breaking and, although you’ll never forget her, in time you’ll come to terms with your loss and be able to smile at your memories of the good times.

That’s a grand old age for a cat. We had a ginger mog that made 21, we took him vanning and in cottages for last few years of his life. Never found it easy with cat though, always worried about him getting lost. Treasure those memories.....😃

Very sad - I'm sure you must miss her.   Our cat knows when we are going - even if we just pop down to the van for something she runs alongside and get's settled on the seats.  In summer, she often sleeps in there if I've left the door open. 

She loves caravanning - we only let her out on one site away from the road, but she doesn't go far away.  Other sites we don't trust her so she stays in and is happy to watch the world go by through the window.  

That is a really good age for a cat, but doesn't make it any easier to lose her.  I can understand how you feel.  Our last cat was 17 when he died.  He too came with us during about the last 6 years of his life.  I remember very well the first time of going away after he passed away, after setting up I sat down and cried my eyes out, don't mind admitting that.  But time is a great healer, although that's difficult to believe at the time.

Our current cat also comes with us and is very good at walking on a lead on site, she seems to really enjoy that, as she often goes to the door and "asks" to go out.

Just bumped into this thread, our beloved Birman called Winston was put to sleep on Tuesday. He was 18 years old and had been caravanning with us all his life, he adored the caravan. We took him away for the last time last weekend. 18 years ago it wasn't the done thing to walk a big fluff ball on a harness and a lead, let alone take him into the pub where he would sit on a chair next to us and fall asleep. Good times.

We said goodbye to our little dog this week, so to anyone out there who is going through the same thing my thoughts go out to you. We've always travelled with a pet or two and knew this time might come but it doesn't make it easier. Happy days remembering all those trips with a pet companion.
