Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

Very sad to see money has been wasted on a re-brand of the Caravan Club. Does anyone else think that the new logo is ugly?

Totally agree. Pointless.

This will confuse the non-caravanning public even further.

I fail to see the point, sorry.

This name change has all the hallmarks of a corporate directive, not the action of an inclusive Club.

Why has there been no prior notification and discussion in the Club magazine?

I ask that this nonsense be put on hold immediately, pending a proper consultation (referendum) of ALL the members.

As a member for 30 years, I am most disappointed at this high handed approach.  The only gainer will be the Caravan and Camping Club.

The new logo colouring is wrong, the red flag and green writing was striking and instantly recognisable as the CC, The new logo and colouring looks like something you would see outside a nursing home, the colours should be bold powerful and youthful, not dim faded and dull, we love using the club and this will not stop me using the club, but I keep looking at the stickers and think I am not putting that on my car,  but the old logo I was proud to have it displayed on my car.

It will be interesting to see if this new branding can stand the test of time, by the looks of all the comments, as well as the comments on facebook groups,  I would be surprised this logo lasts the year.

If there is to be a major change involving millions of pounds being spent on rebranding such as the logo and the name of the Club which does not serve any purpose or benefit current members, shouldn't this same council elected by members first consult all the paid up members to see if they agree with any changes as per the Club's constitution?

Sorry Surfer I must have missed the post where the club said the cost was in the millions of pounds, can you point me to it please.  I suspect this is just usual crappy rhetoric dreamed up in your mind, the actual cost is not going to be that much as much of the costs are revenue expense and would get changed regularly anyway (uniforms, letterhead etc.).  There would be some design costs for the logo and I suspect (hope) some consumer feedback etc. but in the whole scheme of things very little..

You elect the members of the board to make a decision, if they put something like this to people no doubt we would all come up with a design we liked and no one lese would.  At the end of the day the club is still the same, run by the same people with the same wardens and HO staff so why not get off your high horses and try and get change where it can be achieved such as the completing of the website issues  etc.

To start how much do you think it cost in postage to send out all those letters with the new stickers plus the cost of the contents?  For 300,000 member the cost was probably about £200,000.  Then we have the change of uniforms which will not be cheap.  Changing the signage for about 2000 CLs will be expensive as the new signs will probably be sent by post or courier due to their size.  We also have the cost of the signs etc on Caravan club sites plus the direction signs.  The we have the cost of changing all the stationary and members cards.  It all adds up to a lot of money and although not millions, at least a million which could have been better spent employing a new IT team to resolve issues with this website and forum.

Either way as members we should have been consulted prior to the name and logo change!  BTW I have reported your post for the personal attack on myself.

The proper terms are "trailer caravan" and "motor caravan" so both were adequately covered by the old name. I would also add that sales of the latter have in the last few years been largely fueled by the Baby Boomer generation cashing in their lump sums. I wonder if sales will drop off once this money has all been spent.

Total waste of our money!

It's quite understandable why there has been a change, and I'm sure a lot of thought and consideration has gone into the rebrand. The thing is the original logo had heritage and respect, proudly flying the flag with instantly recognisable font and cheerful colours. Green represents growth and vitality.

Who decided brown and orange? My instant reaction was negative (and shock), 'autumnal' colours usually represent the end of life.

I think a name that enccompasses motorhome owners' is a good thing, this could easily have been included with the original well respected logo. The change could be likened to changing the 'Spirit of Ecstasy' on a Rolls Royce, for June Brown. June is beautiful and loved by all, but you get the gist.

Would have been a decent thing to do to ask for members' opinions, after all we are what makes it a club.

Companies get a really good rate of postage, so lets say it was 20p per letter that's 60k but I think in reality it may be less.  Signage costs yes they will cost maybe £5 each plus another £1 for postage so that £12,000.  Signs on sites can be changed as and when with maybe only the main sign outside the site being changed immediately.  Stationary as I said will be bought anyway so nil cost apart from the left overs from the old CC.  Membership cards will be sent out anyway does not matter if they are old or new so nil cost.  So taking the above into account the cost is less than 100k, but obviously like you pure conjecture but a lot closer than your millions.

No need to consult members the board are elected to take decisions and if you did consult members  just look at the EU referendum and se where that has got us!!

As for reporting me fine I really don't give a fig, bit like running to teacher IMHO. miss miss undecided
