A Question

Can I ask the CM what this actually means  "closing this discussion pending review" is it actually reviewed by anyone or body ? or just another way of saying were closing it?

I can't recall a thread ever being unlocked or feedback being posted to the contributors or OP with an outcome.

A response would be greatly appreciated to help myself and I suspect others understand what was posted that deemed it necessary to lock / close these threads down.

There have certainly been posts that have been re-opened, one about possible advertisements, and I'm sure others will mentions others too. I agree that sometimes post are closed without reasons being given, but it's happening less and less these days, although the general cop out is that one or more responses have breach the club's T&Cs.

The problem with that thread is that it bought into sharp focus the two incompatible approaches practised here. On the one hand anybody can comment ad nauseam on the reviews of others which is a complete nonsense and on the other hand anything slightly contentious is shut down quickly.

Threads are not closed because they are contentious, unless the original post is against forum  T&C's. They are usually closed because they have gone completely off topic or the way posters are making their posts is against the T&C's of the forum.  Sometimes we can correct this by deleting a few posts to bring it back to the original subject but often there are so many off topic posts that the original subject of the thread has been completely lost. Some will say that is natural thread drift but I don't think that is allowed for in the T&C's! If a thread is closed with reference to the Community Manager reviewing the thread she will do just that. However reviewing a thread does not mean it will be reopened.
