St Wolfgang in Austria - there is a lovely site at the west end of the town - and Sieser Alm in Sud Tyrol, plenty of fully serviced pitches, fabulous facilities and restaurant and great views too! Natterersee is good or try Klienwalsertal in the north west of Austria, close to German border.

It is a difficult one David as Vierthaler is the one I recommended to you but they close end of September.  I do not think that Grubhoff is that far from Salzburg

What about Winkl-Landthal at Bishofsweiesen they are open til 13th October 2017  What date in October do you need.?  Not too far off the A8  .www.camping-winkl.de  We have been there 4/5 times  ACSI Camping Card taken.

Hi

We will be travelling from Bamberg to Bertchesgarden in May and looking for somewhere to stop in between. Don't particularly want to go to Munich. Any recommendations?

Hi Martatin,  Where are you staying at Bamberg we stopped there years back lovely area and we stopped at a lovely campsite.

It is just 241 miles to Berchtesgaden from Bamburg but if you want to stay other places en route I can recommend a Campsite near to Regensburg and another on Chiemsee  both lovely places to explore.

It certain is a do able journey in a day especially with a MH.  Let me know if you are interested in either of these places.

Hi David

Not done Germany before but holidaying in France over last 2 years reckon it will take us about 5 hours to do the 240 miles. I tend to get tired at 200 miles so didn't want to push it. Other thought was arriving at site whether we would get on late afternoon (Mr cautious!). How do German roads compare to France?

Dianne just spotted your reply, yes would be interested to know your sites. Plan is to stay at Familiencamping Allweglehen near Bertchesgarden and Campingplatz Insel Bamberg
which have been recommended to us.
