Just received the latest edition of the magazine (no, obviously haven't read it! wink) and noticed that the "SW" has been dropped from the date box on the cover. So is this the demise of the regional editions of the magazine? It would be good if so, I've got fed up of reading about sites in my own area! Anyone else spotted this?  smile

Most of us started out as caravanners, so it is hardly surprising that some use their Motorcaravans in that way, dont need a large vehicle to tow with, so can use a small runabout as everyday car. There is NO 'correct' way of doing things (as long as you are not breaking the law). So we stay for extended periods some times, and tour around other times, depends how we feel. We dont use awnings, except for our wind out, and have been known to wild camp, but usually its a site.

But "touring" motor caravanners are , it seems,  a tiny minority compared to the amount that are being used as motorized caravans and stay put once at their destination site, and are used just as any caravan,

My above post was in answer to the quoted one, sorry for straying from original theme. I cant say i ever noticed a regional difference  in the Magazine even when it was 'En Route' .Showing my age now.

I think their idea of touring is one where members move from one of their sites to another and always book in advance and pay upfront on arrival .Spontaneous trips or changes of plan do not figure in it.

On the other hand David it is far easier to change plans on a CC site than on just about any otuher main UK site.

I would think that in the UK ,unless doing the now oversubscribed Scotland "numbered" tours, there is plenty of information available that gives the cc the way members "tour"or not in motor caravans and just noting on the many nights we use club sites the very few that are on tour

Whilst we are happy to tour over here without booking, I'm not keen to try it in the U.K. Even here, in the Verdon, we encountered our first full site. In general this visit, it seems a lot busier than in the past.

I think you are agreeing with me.undecided

Except for the bit where your are wrong in intimating that altering the itinerary is dificult, which is easy via the cc booking system if changing ones plans, but not many  brits tour over here ,as it seems happens in the near continent ,unless it is the overseas visitors to the UK who think this country is easy to see in 3 weekswink
