Part seasonal pitches

I never liked the idea of getting a seasonal pitch. We got our caravan so we could see parts of the country that we hadn't seen before. I just thought if you get a seasonal pitch you're restricted to one site for a whole year and with the price of a seasonal pitch you could have a week abroad. Bearing in mind we're both in full time employment, it just doesn't seem worth it.
So we were at North Ledaig (CC affiliated), near Oban a couple of weeks ago and thought 'WOW!' What a cracking location. The site itself was as good as any CC site but the views were just amazing.
We trolled through the usual pamphlets and noticed the seasonal prices ranged from about £1400 for non EHU, up to around £1800 for a super delux pitch, but no mention of part seasonal(?)
It wasn't until I bumped into an old friend (OK friend is pushing it, we played squash together 20 odd years ago) and he told us that he had a 'late season' pitch, which ran from 19th Aug to end of Oct.
After a bit of investigation we paid our £50 deposit for next year!
It still gives us the early part of the year (and hopefully the better weather) to do some weekend touring where and when we want, and we get a week or two holiday plus quite a few weekends by the sea to look forward to near the end of the season. It also gives my partners' parents somewhere to go for a wee break if they want as they love Oban so much.
So I stand converted, if not a little bemused as to why this hasn't been more openly advertised. Is this a new thing or have I just been blinkered because I thought the seasonal pitch concept wasn't for me? I think it's a great idea and maybe when we're touring round the country early next year, we'll find somewhere else we might like to spend the second part of the following year.
