Stories, but where are the facts?

On occasions the CC magazine publishes an article for example about towing mirrors or towing weights etc, but seldom supplies links to any actual legislation for clarification.

Sometimes it seems as if the article is a case of a friend's, friend's, uncle's aunt scenario.  As I have been burnt in the past, I now try and get it from the horse's mouth so to speak and it is amazing the difference in facts.

This issue does not only apply to the CC magazine which is a very credible and helpful magazine, but applies to many other magazines when quoting an article perhaps related to some motoring scenario.

It seems most magazines are reluctant to publish links or point to the legislation in question because the journalist is too bone idle to look it up and do some research and may have the facts that are not true or they have bent the truth.

Would it be possible in future for the CC magazine to set an example and publish links to the legislation instead of using what appears to be second hand information?  There have been apologies in the CC magazine due to incorrect statements made in an earlier publication, but by then the damage may have been done.

Publishing links to the relevant legislation may help if a consumer has been the victim of an unfair ticket because the person issuing the ticket was not aware of the actual legislation.  It would also help if the person received a ticket but decided to defend it because they enver had the proper facvts to hand.  At the very least it may be of interest to many members and give raise to debate as the law is very grey in some areas and I can supply many examples relating to caravanning, towing and weights.
