Why so many locked discussions?

OK, I understand that it was decided at the last Club AGM that no extension to membership would be allowed as a result of the Covid restrictions) now more than 340 days and counting. I thought I'd have a look on here, my first visit, to see what the score was. What did I find? A succession of locked threads on this topic, and other relevant ones (is it worth continuing membership in light of current attitude).

I'd like to continue as a member, but am put off by this dictatorial manner. Does free speech not apply to members of the C&MC? To be honest, I've pretty much given up on club sites, which I find too regimented and car-park-like, but believe access to the many wonderful Certificated Sites is probably worth the membership fee. Oh, and my motorhome is insured through the Club too.

So yes, to me it's worth staying a member. But please moderators, try not to be quite to quick to lock threads. We all have an equal right to voice our opinions, so please let us do so without unwanted interference.

"Does free speech not apply to members of the C&MC?"

Anyone using this forum agrees to abide by the T&Cs and Guidelines so freedom of speech is, therefore, overridden.

It seems many of the threads that have many posts Deleted User, if one reads what went before? are caused by naysayers, who cannot accept that some may have more knowledge than other on a subject, hence try to discredit the post, and will cause an argument ;which the moderators will then close a thread, and may pass it onto a higher authority with it being  beyond their control  to deal with

I think the recent "booking a pitch " thread is a perfect illustration of why a tread gets locked.

A new member asks a question, pretty obviously about choosing pitches on a club site. It is answered in the first few posts, then a regular non club site user decides to promote a commercial site (nothing wrong in that itself, though clearly irrelevant to the OP.) That post is Deleted User for whatever reason. So a second group of posters try to name and the promote the site again; these posts are also Deleted User. But wait! A third poster, in the full knowledge of what has gone before, then decides to name and promote the site again!

Now whether one agrees or not with what the moderators have done this sort of action clearly and deliberately undermines their work. And so the thread gets closed rather than risking further deletions. The moderators are put in an unenviable position by this sort of action.

If anybody has an issue with the moderation of Club Together, the T & Cs state that they must take it up with the Community Manager and not challenge decisions on the open forum.

As stated, threads often get locked simply because of troll posters.  When there are too many off topic posts to be removed, the thread is locked.

We are volunteers and have lives beyond this forum.

Oh! the irony; because this thread is challenging moderation, it too will now be locked.

This topic has been locked, no new replies can be added.
