....and a criticism of totally rubbish Landrover srevice. A last minute decision to go for Red Penant the night before we set off on holiday turned out to be  a godsend! First of all a huge public thanks to all the staff including Phil, Scott and Roseanne and apologies to those who helped and whose names i have forgotten. I would also ask RP to ensure my thanks are conveyed to their recovery agents in Calais and Andy's of Dover were absolute stars. Without going into too much detail the utterly appalling lack of help from Landrover dealers in France and Canterbury probably cost RP over £1000 in additional recovery costs all because the LR dealers couldn't find a few minutes to run a diagnostics on my car and recode the key. My local independant LR specialist was able to meet me at 9.30pm to help sort my car when we eventually got home, now that is service, please note LR! I do hope LR have discussions at a high level with RP and listen to how poorly rated LR are by the RP staff (albeit i am sure other manufacturers are not all good either). What I would suggest to RP staff is both they and the owners simply bombard LR customer relations on 01926 691600 with calls everytime their dealers fail to help, they may get the message! By contrast the previous week when the car also broke down in Austria a small family owned Chevrolet dealer sorted the car out very quickly helpfully including working on a sunday afternoon! Now THAT is service. Guess what my next car might be...... I am sure those with LR warranties get great service (which of course would be not be needed if the cars were more more reliable.......) but those outside the dealer network seem to be treated like lepers.
