After returning from 2 very good weeks on the West Coast of Scotland and also because I have the 'all Singing and Dancing '...supposedly Mayday cover I feel I must record for all other policy holders the story that follows :- We made the acquaintance whilst at N Ledaig of a chap from merseyside who recounts the following he  was towing his caravan with his recently serviced 8 year old Volvo and in preparation for his trip he signed up for the Mayday top of the range ,like many of us recovery .Now , I am very aware of the good reports members have had in their own dealings with CC and Mayday rescue but this story beggars belief. His car developed a strange smell and shortly after he pulled over into a layby his car caught fire. Everyone got out and he had the wit to detach the van as the flames got a hold. The result was that his car was a total write -off . A passing motorist had summoned the Fire brigade but it was too late to save anything from the car. Police attended and the car was duly removed from the highway for obvious reasons. After gathering his thoughts he rang Mayday and was told that because his car was not with his van they would not attend the scene and would not take him on to his destination as per policy. He rang the CC who were unable to help him. A very long and expensive story later is that after 3 days wrangling with Green flag and receiving precious little or no help from the CC they agreed to tow his van home. Bearing in mind he had no transport for 3 days. The tow vehicle duly arrived for the 300 mile trip a Renault van the size of a Transit with 3 seats for him, his wife and their dog and the driver ! My question and not an unreasonable one is this and it could happen to any of us. You go out for the day and your car suffers an incident that writes it off. Currently as it stands and the CC could not confirm to his wife when she rang  that Green Flag will turn out and recover your van. There is NOTHING in my policy document, or yours that covers a total loss of the towing vehicle whilst on holiday.  You have been warned. MESSAGE TO CC. come on sort this out and confirm whether or not we can expect some clarification on this point. This member has received atrocious service from Green Flag and the CC who in his words were not interested in my plight or more importantly prepared to apply pressure as an intermediary for Green Flag. I know this situation is very rare and may not have occured before. It is just such a situation where help swiftly delivered should be the norm ...not 3 days later !

Brian, I hope you have both recovered from the truama and you receive a little compensation and an apology for the lack of support and service you did not receive.
