Insurance quotation misleading

I'd just like to warn other club members about my first (and last) experience of using Caravan Club insurance for a newly purchased motorhome. Here is the warning: when the web quotation site asks  'How many years No Claim Discount (NCD) do you have that is available to transfer to this insurance?' be very careful of what you put in here. I have learnt to my cost that this means NCD that must be from a policy that has now ceased or will cease when you start this policy. It cannot include any NCD that you have on any other vehicle that still has a current policy.

 I entered 4 years, as I have a 1 yr NCD from a previously owned private car and then a further 3 years no claims on a company car which I am still driving.

I accepted the quote and paid the premium which I thought was reasonable although not the cheapest. A week later I am contacted to be told that my no claims history is not valid because I am still driving the company car and therefore the NCD is not 'available' to be transferred. Consequently my premium will go up by more than £100.

This has made the insurance premium from the Caravan Club extremely uncompetitive and so I have switched insurers. For the priviledge of being mislead by the Caravan Club I have to pay a £25 admin charge and they have retained some premium for the period I have been covered .
