When the lockdown ends

I know Boris does not like to hear this but the lockdown is being pushed by economics,  I live on the edge of Manchester and can see a marked increase in traffic as more people go back to work. More shops and small buisineses have opened and even the bigger food takeaway chains are talking of opening all of them following strict guidelines.  Many shops etc have been open all along. Even talk of football matches being played.

The club should now be looking at the possibilities of how the sites can be run under strict guidelines.  There is not going to be a magic date when everything returns to normal as there will not be a normal as we used to know but a new normal of which all organisations such as CAMC should be prepared for.  If  any preparations are being made we should know about them and  be given a chance to comment and submit suggestion.  This is not what the club is used to but does what it wants and if it does not listen to its members it will see the membership numbers fall.

JUST LOOK AT THE MEMBERS COMMENTS AND FOR ONE PUT A COMMENT THERE WILL BE MANY WHO WILL THINK WHY BOTHER AND JUST NOT RENEW MEMBERSHIP.

I forget that people are prepared to queue smile

Our waste recycling centres in Flintshire open today. That should be interesting. We have around 30 bags of garden waste and half a dozen bundles of pruning but think that they can wait a while!

We live in Flintshire and a friend told me that people were queueing at Oakenholt tip at 6.30 this morning for a 9.00 am opening. There's still a 45 minute wait and this seems to be the norm at all 5 Recycling Centres in Flintshire.

We're like you and waiting until things die down a bit before venturing to one. Reading the instructions it looks like they will only allow 1 person to exit the car to get rid of stuff so I'll have to reduce grass cutting black bins ( old style) to about ¾ full. They don't want recycling items either and only back bagged general waste so most of our stuff will be staying where it is until restrictions lifted.

Its only fun being paid to stop home for a while but the shine soon wears off.

I think that you and I cope well with it David wink

Well not quite..............but its very close!

The permutations of how this can affect people who are still working are numerous and my point is that I doubt the majority feel its like 'being on holiday', although the apparent adherence to the "its a BH so I must got to the beach" mantra might lead to to believe otherwise, and as for being handsomely paid........

One thing that's clearer now though is that,if you do wish to travel hundreds of miles to "be safe" , or as opticians are closed drive your car as a away ot testing your eyes both are now approved by No 10.

Most of the "younger" people we know are back at work, one or two still working from home or in shifts to prevent overcrowding. Two have totally lost their jobs.

Most of our family have never stopped working. Teachers looking after children who need to be in school (essential or vulnerable) , teachers doing online work from home, Firefighters, Ambulance drivers, Police, Local Government Officers who are half in half out of work environments and working from home. Had one at home for a couple of weeks as he heads construction for a big Housebuilding company, but he’s back now. One works for Rolls Royce, he finds out his fate this week.☹️

On the plus side, we are thankful that so far, not a single family member as far as we know has had C19. Obviously cannot be sure as not been tested, but fingers crossed it stays this way.🤞

Grandson aged 24, been a doctor for only 8 months, but now working 12 hour day or night shifts with Covid patients in Coventry hospital. I know he will be glad when normality returns.

That’s been a baptism of fire EuroT. West Mids has had a lot of cases. A shining star indeed👍

One thing that hasn’t been mentioned recently is when the restrictions on the over 70’s will be lifted. If that is still in place in July what impact will that have on things?

The over 70's can claim exceptional circumstances and carry on as normal I'd have thought!  wink

Mrs M's sister and OH have both had 70th birthdays over the past couple of weeks - I can't see them sitting meekly at home when the rest of us are up and about! laughing
