We have towed a 2016 Swift Conqueror 1500kg caravan with a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 2.4, it will tow perfectly well on E5 petrol in the summer the best we achieved over 180 miles towing 32 mpg, on average it was nearer 30 mpg, on E10 this dropped to 26/28 mpg.
The best place for advice is the Outlander PHEV forum.
My towing method, run the battery down to 40/50% then use save or charge mode, on the hills just press charge mode that way the ICE and the rear motor power the vehicle uphill, if you leave it in save mode the ICE will just howl away until it reaches the top of the hill.
We changed the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV for the new Suzuki Across PHEV on Saturday it will be our first tow.

No, it is just that some people are still unaware Mitsubishi are no longer sold in the UK! I recall when I looked at the Outlander PHEV a few years ago, the dealer advised going for the diesel……. I didn’t go for either. However the RAV PHEV I now have is an amazingly economical and powerful towcar. The Suzuki Across is the same car built by Toyota for Suzuki. Depending on your budget might be worth looking at a used Across.

As Flatcoat has pointed out Mitsubishi are no longer in the UK and Europe, unfortunately MG Motors are caretaker managers for Mitsubishi covering warranty and servicing, the last 2 services were abysmal, the last service they even recorded the service date and mileage wrong and refused to provide any paperwork.
Excellent car but unfortunately they are virtually a computer on wheel they need a competent dealer network which is no longer there.
I am with Flatcoat Toyota RAV4 PHEV or a Suzuki Across it makes the Outlander PHEV look agricultural.
