Time to reminisce, what was your first caravan?

After tents and a trailer tent we bought our first caravan in 1987 for £500.00. Never did know the make or year and have just recently found some old 35mm slides. Andrew Jenkinson has confirmed the make; an Elite 13/4 made by Elite Coachcraft, Bridlington and was built in 1976, cost about £1,400.00. My towcar at that time was a Ford Escort Estate 1.3 petrol and it did pull the van to Wales and back, probably towing at well over 100%. (when were the towing recommendations published?) I then change the car to a Ford Escort Saloon 1.6.
It did us for a year or so then I found damp and rotten wood, so sold it to a scrap merchant for …..£500.00, a year’s cheap caravanning. The bug bit and have enjoy caravanning ever since.
The two burner hob / grill also had a cooker hood and 12v extractor fan!! no hot water or heater. Did have a fridge, a 12v light in the centre of the caravan and a gas light at the front.
How times have changed in caravan design, technology and price.
So you 'Club Together', members what was your first caravan all those years ago?

A lot younger then!!!!!!
