Where have all the medium-sized 2-berths gone?

At present we have a 2005 Lunar Stellar, which we have had from new.  It has a small washroom, perfectly adequate for staying on facilities sites and the odd night on a CL, and a decent amount of cooking space - I enjoy cooking when on holiday.

Looking at the 'vans on the market today, apart from the tiny ones (Ariva, Wisp) and some of the fixed-bed monsters, they ALL have a space-wasting rear washroom (OK, it is not actually "rear" on the new Stellar, but still wastes space).  This means a 12 foot caravan is actually an 8 foot one with a huge, largely unused space at the rear and a minimal kitchen.  And don't get me started on microwaves...

I can't help feeling that when my present 'van turns its toes up, we will be abandoning caravanning - a shame after 35 years.
