Our van has no hook up, two PV panels charging twin leisure batteries. I know there will be several variables but in principle am I likely to be able to charge an electric bike battery from 12v socket without trashing the battery? I guess the alternative is to pay for a hook up and charge the bike directly from it? Thanks for any replies..

Presumably you have a 230v charger for your bike battery, if so and you have an inverter of sufficient power you should have no problem. I do similar using a 750w inverter.

It’s best to check with CAMC about charging your bike battery direct from the EHU bollard. Cars have to be charged via the caravan/MH but it might be different for other things.

If you have no electric hook up to to your caravan you would need to buy one of those camping hook up leads which have a safety trip and comply with the club rules

Lithium batteries require specific charging profiles so, in principle you could use your leisure battery as a source of energy to charge the bike but you would still need a charge controller to avoid damaging the battery.

For example if you just connected a solar panel directly to a lithium battery (as you might have done for a lead acid battery) you would be likely to overcharge the battery which causes plating of the anode.
