I decided today that I needed to give our relatively new motorhome a polish before we embark on our first tour on the continent. I have generally used Auto Glym polish for a number of years but recently, at a rally, a caravanner recommended a product called Showroom shine by Greased Lightning. They have a website HERE. It claims it is the revolutionary way to wash and wax your vehicle in one step without the need for water. I would never do that personally so I washed the thing before polishing and spent some time making sure the roof was clean, 7 hours in total from start to finish!!!

I decided to do the roof with Auto Glym, as I knew the product well and did not want to be doing it again in a hurry as clambering around on the roof and reaching out over the cab where I cannot walk was a real effort.

I did the remainder with this new product though and found it very easy to use, you just liberally spray it on, spread it with a micro fibre cloth and then polish off with another micro fibre cloth. It was more like wiping really than having to exert any great effort and it shone as described on the bottle. You can even use it on the plastic and glass, which I did, but returned to my Auto Glym glass cleaner for the windscreen.

Just as I had finished it started to snow but at least the job was done. I am now suffering with a few aches and pains in the shoulders and lower back but at least I will be happy to go away with a newly polished van.

For those in East Yorkshire area a local store called ‘Boyes’ stocks it and I bought two 1L bottles for £20, which is cheaper than Amazon. Time will tell on how good it is but the reviews on Amazon are very good. It definitely easily removed the black marks.

Regards, Roy
