Is Motorhome Length an Issue?

We are seriously thinking of changing from a caravan to a motorhome. Having looked at the various ranges of motorhomes. The one we like best is 7.5mts long which is longer than the actual body length of our current caravan. Would appreciate any comments form owners out there particularly those who have perhaps moved up in size.
