Operating a Bailey Advance without hookup

I have a Bailey Advance 76-4 with the Seattle Control Panel and the Truma CP Plus panel.  I cannot work out how to operate the CP Plus functions when not hooked up to the mains.  What I need a step by step guide.  Anyone help?

I know nothing of the Seattle control panel...is it supposed to interface with the Truma cp?..

what you need to do is on the heating menu select gas as the fuel and then the fan speed (Eco or high) and then ensure the thermostat is turned up...

it may be that the Seattle control panel needs to be ON as you need a 12v supply for the heater fan...

good luck.

As BB suggests you need the 12v on which on the Seattle Control panel is "Master On". You should then be able to scroll through the menu on the iNet screen to Gas (cylinder icon). Once selected it should solid black rather than outline black. Once the temperature is set  the gas cylinder symbol will flash until it reaches the temperature set.

actually, it's not the gas bottle that should flash (this is the fuel mode selected -gas) it's the 'flame' symbol above the picture of the motorhome (which represents the habitation area) that should flash until the required temp is reached.

It’s worth remembering that the flashing flame indicates heating by any fuel and not just gas.

My biggest problem is forgetting to ‘OK’ a setting and then wondering why it doesn’t work. 😄

The sequence is

Switch on the Master Control Panel (Seattle).

Fill the combi boiler with water.

Switch on the Truma CP Plus Control Panel.

Set the energy source to Gas.

If hot air heating is needed set the Van temperature (Flashing Van symbol) to the desired level.  If no heating is required i.e. during the summer leave this off.

Set the water temperature to the desired level

and it all should work?

My initial request was prompted by various error messages appearing on the CP Plus  and having difficulty using the reset function.  One thing seems to be that there is a delay after prompting a reset so patience is in the order.

My previous post regarding use without the electric hookup was a question for the experienced users of this system.  As I understand it to get the combi boiler to work and get heat/hot water when there is no mains electricity I should

Switch on the Master Control Panel (Seattle).

Fill the combi boiler with water and turn on the gas.

Switch on the Truma CP Plus Control Panel.

Set the energy source to Gas.

If hot air heating is needed set the Van temperature (Flashing Van symbol) to the desired level.  If no heating is required i.e. during the summer leave this off.

Set the water temperature to the desired level and the flame symbol above the water temperature should flash until the temperature has been reached.

Please correct me if I have got the sequence wrong.

We get an error code if we forget to turn the Truma panel off before disconnecting the EHU. Quite scary the first time it happened.

I guess it would be something like 'mains supply interrupted' which you would probably also get if the breaker tripped and the Truma was set to electric.

no different, I guess, to the fridge light flashing if there's a power cut or the supply voltage drops too low..

you seem to have things sorted, but you need to be aware that, due to the design of the unit (a water jacket surrounding a furnace with a hot air supply in between) if you have hot water AND heating selected, it will impact greatly on the water heat up time.

with a typical 1800w electric setting, this will move from around 20 mins (with hot water only) to (possibly) 80 mins to reach 60. deg.

heres a tip for having hot water (for a shower) and a warm van on a chilly morning...

(once you've mastered the timer settings) set the water to come on for 20-30 mins, then set the heating to come on for a while before you need to get up...

the water will heat quickly (single function) and then the heating function will maintain the water temperature whilst heating the van...(hot water is a by product of the heating function).

if you select water and heat, it will be a long time before the water is fully hot.

we've had CP plus versions in our last two vans (covering four years) and IMHO they are light years better than the old 'twin dial' units we had before.

good luck.
