Kuga or CRV - as good as a Mondeo?

I've been Mondeo-man since forever and my current 2006 2.0L 130 TDCi is a brilliant towcar, especially in terms of pulling power (with a Bailey Ranger, MTPLW 1230kg). I've rarely been (legally) out-performed on an incline and MPG is 30-35 towing, 47-60+ solo. But now I fancy something a bit different, although not what many on here call 'a proper towcar'.

An SUV seems an attractive proposition, the Honda CRV and the Ford Kuga in particular but, as always, there are negative views around about the new versions of these. It's a scarey thought that in spending £25k or whatever, I could end up with something inferior. So, the equivalent diesel versions of those models is going to be al least as good as my Mondeo - isn't it?? Frown
