Should I 'Unload' this caravan?

My Land Rover Freelander 2 SDI HSE (2011) has a kerb weight of 1805kg.

My Swift Conqueror 530 (2008) has a MTPLM of 1632kg.

This gives a Kerb Weight ratio of 90% and from the Caravan Club’s Outfit Matching comment:

“The caravan's laden weight is close to the car's kerb weight, increasing the risk of stability concerns. This outfit should not be driven by novice towers, and does not meet Club guidelines. Note that a small increase in ratio (to perhaps 90%) is acceptable if all other criteria are passed.”

All the other criteria were passed with green ticks.

The Conqueror 530 has a large user payload at 242kg and I do understand that if I simply loaded the ‘van to a max of 140kg I would be at a Kerb Weight ratio of 85%.

However, the bean counters within the insurance industry will only look at the published figures and my question therefore is; do I need to notify my caravan insurance that the Kerb Weight Ratio does not meet the Club’s guidelines?

Or, would I do well to unload (sorry about the pun) this caravan and buy a smaller one?
