Importance of CLs taking Guests' contact details

We always take membership numbers and full contact details when members book to stay on our CL. We see this as part of our ‘duty of care’.  In the event of an incident, we can account for who is on our site - this might assist the emergency services.

Taking vehicle registrations is important – there is a column for this in the Bookings Diary issued by the CC.  Occasionally we have people phoning us to see if their relatives are staying with us, desperate to contact them because of an incident back home.  Because we take vehicle registrations, we can quickly get a message to the right person without disturbing everyone on our CL.

We are careful to ask for mobile phone numbers so that we can contact our guests whilst they are with us or in transit.  This can resolve an issue far more quickly than waiting for them to get home after a multi-stage caravan holiday.  It might be as simple as a guest leaving something behind on departure: someone once left the remote control of their motor-mover – a quick call to their mobile phone meant that they could turn-around and collect it.
