Additional legislation?

"We have prioritised preparation for EU exit and royal assent of the Haulage Permits and Trailer Registration Bill will be a significant step in this process"

Will this impinge on caravans, meaning they will have their own registration like the continent?

It could possibly also impact on TOADs as well.

Has anyone read the small print?

i quote this para from a summary of the bill.

"We do not intend to require registration of any trailers that are used solely within the UK. Mandatory registration will apply solely for international travel to, or through, countries which have ratified the 1968 Convention. Mandatory registration will primarily apply to commercial trailers weighing over 750kg. Our intention is also to apply mandatory registration to larger non-commercial trailers weighing over 3,500kg undertaking such journeys, though this is an issue on which we are seeking industry views. This higher weight threshold for non-commercial trailers will exclude almost all leisure user caravans and horse trailers. This legislation will not introduce an annual tax for trailers."

It's not so much whether you would trust them but whether they would have the resource given the mountain of stuff they will have to wade through. As the consequences become ever clearer I just wonder how many people who voted to "take back control" are realising what they may actually be giving up?

Is that about International Driving Permits?

Well, considering I have driven in Australia and New Zealand with a UK driving licence, and my son was driving here in the UK last week with a Hong Kong driving licence, I think it's unlikely I will need a new driving licence for France in the near future.

Another scare story?

Really don't see what the problem is. As far as I can see leisure vehicles are not included in any form. Assuming none of us has a 3.5 tonne van.
