A view from Spain
12 days ago the infection rate in Spain was 1,500 nothing done but fast forward to last Thursday the infection rate was 975 and quarantine rules brought in and the infection rate in the UK was 850. The death rate for the week up to last Thursday Spain 8 UK 425, here in Spain they have a world beating track and trace system called PCR which they have had for 12 weeks now so they know which people are infected where they got it and what place to quarantine in the UK still waiting for their world beating system which was going to be oven ready for June 1st. When you have a decent system you will find the infections if you don't have a decent system you will never know. IMHO jut political posturing five months to late.
At the moment on a six week tour of Spain mainly in the Northern regions of Asturias and Cantabria and yes it is very quiet no French but they have had hardly any infections in fact out of the 17 regions of Spain 9 have fewer infections then the UK also the holiday regions of Valencia and Andalusia also have had fewer then the UK.

Posted on 28/07/2020 13:54 by Rocky 2 bucketsI’m struggling here, why Spain has opened up to UK holidaymakers so readily if(as your figures state) Spain has more to worry about from the very folk they are inviting in with said open arms🤷🏻♂️🤔

We have a booking for BF Portsmouth to Caen on 30th August.
Plans were to go down to the Benidorm area as we usually do every September for a month.
Not sure what's going to be happening now, fingers crossed it might resume as normal in Spain. If not I'm not sure I can spend a whole month in the South of France!

Posted on 28/07/2020 13:54 by peedeeDunno where you are getting your UK figures from but the average daily increase for the past week in Uk has been:
Cases 677 ( nearly all in hot spots)
Deaths 64.

Just looked at the updates UK 745 confirmed cases, Spain 6381.
I'm sorry if anyone has planned a trip but I'd feel much the same about visitors coming here if we have a significant rise, it's not a good idea to travel if numbers are rising.
