Capbreton aire

i did read on another forum that this wonderful aire was closed.....a large rock in the entrance way apparently....but I can confirm its open now...

Capbreton is a lovely seaside (and canal side) town and the aire is right on the beach in the dunes, Lovely marina and many dedicated cycle tracks,.

it costs €10 and every pitch has electic included, loads of room at this time of year, but warm enought to be sat out in the town...

we are only passing through but will add this to our list of potential longer stops.

+1, as said I had no idea they could be so different, one a car park (no offence) the other a mirror of a club site

Aires are a different concept from CC Ltd sites.  They are often free or very inexpensive and located where MHers want to be; perhaps, in a remote coastal location, up an Alp miles from anywhere with views to die for, or in the centre of an historical city.  To liken even one to the majority of the CC Ltd offerings of expensive basic sites with public lav style facilities is, IMHO of course, insulting.  That said the CC Ltd offering fulfils the needs of the less adventurous and has its place, even for us when convenient.

FOlk were posting reasonably with their thoughts PD until, on page two I think when this was needlessly posted: 'such a shame that my information post, alerting Aires users to the fact that Capbreton was open again gets pounced on by those who have no interest in the subject.' Until that somewhat adversarial post folks were giving their thoughts as they reasonably should be able to.

The site at Capbreton looks OK for a night halt

All I wanted to do was ask peedee for the location of the Aire about which he wrote. That post is long past, alas. And possibly people with a real interest have long ago given up.

WTG the Aire is at La Celle Saint Avant just north of Chatellerault and just of the D910 . You can walk into the village along a track to the right of the lake in the picture. It was 9.60 Euro a night including EHU. Water tap alongside each pitch and good drive over MSVP
