Austria has added a new one day vignette to its existing tariffs costing 8.60 euros for vehicles under 3.5 tons. This was introduced in December 2023 and for suitable vehicles it will make it cheaper to cross Austria.  Further information >here<

There will also be changes for vehicles over 3.5 tons, but, from a quick appraisal, these are unlikely to have an immediate impact especially on older vehicles. See >here<

I was hoping to purchase the E vignettes online and in the UK before setting off, unfortunately I have had an Email back from 'ASFiNAG' saying as we are not part of the EEA, I have to purchase at the Toll shops so the online shop is a no.

Have you tried Tolltickets? I have used them in the past. Obviously a slight premium on the prices charged in Austria but not a lot. Perhaps things have changed since we last used them.

I have recently purchased the Austrian E-Vignettes (10 day) online via ASFiNAG for June/July so no idea why you have been told you can't....

I have the pdf receipt with the QR codes as proof.

Also, the Swiss one was cheapest via BAZG @ 40.00 CHF which converted to £37.77 alternative UK options were in excess of £52....

Hope this helps

Edit: I did put in links but it was opening up the files linked to my registration number so have had to delete!

Hi Kasspa, I was hoping to cut out the vignette stop close to the borders of Austria and Slovenia, but this was their reply. As the UK is not in the EEA (European Economic Area) it says I cannot purchase!

I'll look into that site, thanks David. Although its no big deal to do as before and drop in to buy at the stations.

Just a note of caution to those intending to use the A13 Brenner Pass. Major road works are being carried out this year, check out the situation before you intend using this route.

Very strange because if you go to the ASFiNAG link in their email, it takes you straight to the option to purchase which is very straight fwd embarassed
