Crossing Borders

I suppose there are no borders in Europe anymore but I wonder how people feel about crossing from one country into another as despite being next to each other no two countries are the same. We have enjoyed  travelling all over Europe but whenever I cross over the border into France I immediatelly feel at home. Perhaps its because I am more familiar with France but having said that we have spent more time in Germany in recent years. In Germany I get the sense of being businesslike but France is just different.
