Three useful websites for France:
The Bison Fute link takes you to the French Government travel website calendar of likely traffic conditions throughout the year - predicting days when traffic levels will be much higher than normal. The main Bison Fute website is also useful for many other pieces of travel information, and whilst travelling through France keep a look out for the 'Bis' road signs which will direct you on to alternative route suggestions if traffic levels are high.

ok, heres another, but for MHers looking for an aire...all europe countries covered along with campsites....
website only in french but there is an android app though not yet an apple version.....
